plants and pond

by linda

I keep seeing alot about not having plants and 3frogs in with 8 koi. I have both this is my ponds second year and all three are doing great the frogs keep to themselves , the koi are healthy and plants have spread so much I keep having to get rid of some in order to keep an open water spot to view my fish . the plants I have are water lettuce and water hyacinth . my pond because of new england winters has a very deep end 4 1/2 feet deep and a shallow 1 foot deep area with a flat rock in the middle that the frogs hang out at . the over all size is about 15'by 12' so I think it might be big enough for everyone to share . the plants are not in dirt or pots they float on the surface so no mess and the koi love looking for food that might have been trapped in under the leaves . I am not saying go out and get all these things just in my case all three the koi, plants and frogs are doing great - thanks linda
