You seem to be doing everything right Jim.
I would suggest that you do not start feeding until the temperature of the pond water reaches 50 degrees F, and is likely to stay there.
My preferred method is to start feeding them brown bread every two or three days and gradually bring it up to every day. When this is going well I would then feed them wheatgerm pellets.
