Hello,
I perhaps did not explain myself properly, it is not by choice that we only have 1 fish. My husband finished the pond about 10 days ago, he thought it best just to get a couple of fish to start the filtration going. However after 5 days one of the fish had clamped fins and looked generally off colour, so we returned it to the place we bought them from. They recommended not replacing the one returned but leaving the pond for a week to see how the other fish faired. Now we have noticed that the one remaining spends alot of time on the bottom of the pond, is not very active but is eating small amounts of food. The reason for the question about one on their own is to establish if the fish I have left is lonely or could this fish be heading the same way as the one we returned.
My husband was hoping to purchase some more fish over the next month so we need to make sure we would not be introducing new fish to a pond with problems.
Have checked Ph, Nitrate, Nitrites stc and all are normal.
Any comments / advise would be appreciated.
Sue
