When I started my pond I lost the first three stockings of koi despite all tests coming back on the button. Fourth stocking consisted of 4 Ghost koi, some shubunkins and some comets. No fatalities and pond now has about 20 purchased koi and many more that have bred in the pond.
I would start with ghosts on any new pond from now as they are much hardier and quicker growing than normal Koi.
I would also point out that the weather has been very warm. The best purchase I ever made for the pond was an air filter which is constantly running 4 airstones.
Fish have been much healthier since I added this.
