I fed my koi on "nishikoi" since summer 2005, changing to MEdicarp-wheatgerm over the winter.
In the spring, I finished off the Nishikoi, then changed to Kusuri-KPF minipellets (fish are 15 - 30cm long).
This food is running out and I am considering what to use next. The fish switched over to the Kusuri food quite well, but my Sanke has lost all of it's red markings on its nose. There is the faintest pink now, and it would not surprise me to see this disappear over the next couple of weeks.
This particular fish is the gannet in the pond and has probaly gained 3 inches in length so far this year (in stages of going fat, then lengthen, and now fat again). Now around 8 inches in total(not including tail). The other fish have all grown, but not to the same extent.
The other fish have maintaned their colours. I assume that colour dispersion is never guaranteed and all fish may change a little, but it does seem strange that this one has lost all its red hi.
So back to the food question. What is the current favorite?
