the only advice I would give is don't do it over winter..... it's a massive, massive mess, depends if pond is above ground(not too much mess) but if it's below ground(it's a huge mess) do you have side/rear access to remove soil ?.... you maybe able to get some good quality s/h vortices on ebay or some of the koi sites....depends on your budget.
