hi dave , i built a 3000 gallon pond with a nexus 300 eazy, first of all , when i switched on my pump for the first time i had a big difference in levels, the outer chamber was 6" below the inner, it turned out my bottom drain gap was too small so the water was getting pumped out of the filter quicker than it went in, a too fast flow rate will also have this effect so check your rate, slow it down a bit, and regarding the k1, till it gets mucky its quite buoyant so put something that wont rust across it to hold it for now , cheers , danny.
