How to waterproof a pond

Hello,

I have constructed a raised pond using mainly red house bricks and some concrete blocks.

I am looking for a way to waterproof it and was wondering if rendering is an option.

If i used say 2 part sand, 1 part cement and added some plastic filaments to the mixture would that make the render water proof?
