Temporary Koi Tank

by

I want to expand my existing outdoor pond. I expect it to take about 3 days.

I have 2 large koi ~18", 1 medium koi ~12", and 1 goldfish ~7". I have been reading about how to use a net to herd them into a container, then lift that out to carry to new holding tank. The QUESTION is: where is a safe place to house the fish while the excavation, lining, and filling are done? Can I use the bathtub? What about a big plastic garbage can? Is there a time limit as to how long I should leave the koi in a temporary tank?

Can I just use a bubbler, or do I need a filter?

Once the new pond is ready, do I have to wait for some period before returning the fish?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, because I love my fish!
Thank you.
