algae

by

Over the past year I have had no problem with Algae.( weather has been lousy.live in East Anglia)
During the course of the summer I noticed I had a load of moss type algae loose growth on bottom of pond ( my pond is 20ftx9ftx5ft,liner no bottom drain)I have quietly tried to remove ,by using a plastic garden rake, but the pond water soon discoloured .so a bit at a time was done.Yesterday I noticed this moss type algae has settled like a big ball from the bottom to just below the water surface, water is crystal clear.Would I be endandering the fishKoi I have many.who at moment are resting at bottom. With the water crystal clear it would make the manual removal of algae easy.is there an easier way( by pump or other means.I estimate this algae ball to be approx 3ft wide and 3ft deep,as i say it is not growing.I run a pump with the usual 5box filter system.Advice for Koi health and removal appreciated,A Merry Christmas to all
