I had the proverbial "short green baize" on the sides
of my pond for about 7-8 years with no problems.
Then one season it started growing longer & longer & got out of hand.
I've no idea why & I expect there are 1001 potential reasons.
A 1/2 dose of EA BW Inhibitor stopped it and it's been fine since.
As BW needs food & light to grow,are you feeding more than you
did last year to provide excess nutrients ?
Perhaps a pergola would shade the pond to reduce the light ?
There are of course a number of BW treatments on the marketplace
so do some research and see which you prefer.
