I assume you will need to have some sort of shading for the pond
to protect the skin of the koi and to keep the water temperature
down from the heat of the mid day sun.
Assuming the water temp will get quite high in the summer, make
sure you have lots of aereation as water does not hold as much
oxygen at high temps as it does at lower temps and you don't
want the fish to suffocate.
