Charlie,
Not sure if I mis-understand you but if you are running a pump fed
filter then the pump goes in the pond, pumps up to your filter
which is above the pond water level and then the water flows back
to the pond under gravity.
Are you saying you have a pump in your filter and are trying to
get it to 'suck' the water up into the filter ?
