As I mentioned below, going to the race and collecting 50 grand is still losing money, that is where a sponsership comes in. Tires, fuel, pit crew salary, and costs of hauling car to Pa from NC will alone cost more than 50k. Marcis realizes this, and that is why he didn't bother going. Without a commitment to run every race you aren't going to get decent sponsership, and without sponsership you can't compete.
