IC:
As the sound of footsteps get nearer and nearer, Eagle's body is still cold as ice, with no sign of revival anytime soon.
"We must go, NOW!" Di'Ethe said, "There is no where to hide and they are too close for us to set any traps, we must go!"
He grabbed an arm of Eagle and slung it around his neck and led the way. Naur and Chori followed close behind. There is only one path forward, and they ran as fast as they could.
Soon enough they've reached the next chamber through a path of a person's width. Di'Ethe managed to drag Eagle through into the next chamber and Naur and Chori entered the chamber after them. Eagle was disposed onto the floor into a corner of the room. The footsteps are just around the corner as well. A group of enemies all dressed in black came rushing through the path as the 3 of them barely have time to react and defend the spot. Di'Ethe took the spot directly facing the path while Chori and Naur stood to the left and to the right of the entrance and they all did their best to hold the enemy there. But there seem to be a continous stream of enemies and no matter how many they kill it was instantly replaced by another. Soon enough, a particularly strong opponent charged into the room despite taking multiply blow in the arms and in the shoulders. He ignored the pain and charged into Di'Ethe, knocking him back a couple steps. As soon as the brute charged through, the rest poured in. The three of them stood in a semi-circle and despite their respective skill, all they could do were to back up more and more. There were simply too many. They were forced all the way to the other end of the room, where there is an entrance to the path leading to the next chamber.
The room was now full of enemies, and the 3 of them knew they have no chance of killing all the enemies. They have to leave the room and get back to at least a 1 v 1 situation. Maybe even time to set up a trap or two to delay the enemies' progress. They all knew what they have to do.
"We can't just leave Eagle here!"
"Dammit, we have no choice!"
"Our mission! We HAVE to obtain the Diadem of Order, there is no other way!"
"We have to leave him..."
they slowly back into the path as Di'Ethe was the first to run ahead into the path to start putting a trap together. Naur was the next and she hopped over Di'Ethe who was kneeling down rushing to setup the trap. Chori, using her long sword, was able to protect herself while she was the last one to back up into the path. She blocked a sword blow and charged into the opponent to knock him back. That bought her time and she sprinted towards Di'Ethe who is now done with the trap...
Naur was told not to wait for the two of them, and she ran through the path until she reached the entrance to another 'chamber'. At the entrance of this chamber was a wall of water pouring down from the ceiling. A small waterfall in other words. She can almost see a forest, full of plants and trees and grass behind it.
OOC:
erm...i really ran out of ideas so here's what we'll do. this chamber is the opposite of the last one; the last one was what you feared most, this one is what you want the most. The water, which you must have some sort of contact with as you go through, combined with the same sorta magic like last time, will send you into your own mind and other funny stuff... So just do the reverse, and make your character have lots of fun, anything that he/she ever wanted, you will get it here.
Don't wake up at the end of your post yet as well. I'll figure something out.
I'm assuming that whatever Naur wants has to do with nature and all, that's why the green stuff 'seems' to be behind the waterfall, if it's not, i'm sorry and you can have all the green stuff flash by and see something else. when anyone of you get through the waterfall, you'll have illusions to whatever your char wants to see, then you'll drop dead like last time.
Rich, you can also describe what trap you made and what effect it had etc etc. Don't worry about the enemies either. If some of them managed to get past the trap, they'll all hit the waterfall and have the same effect as you guys, meaning whoever touches this waterfall will have lots of fun in his mind while dropping unconsious.
you can all post on the disc. forum or whatever if that's not clear.
As for me, i'm left behind and i'll think of a way out of there, probably via a super power surge or something...but to you guys, i'm dead, as of now anyway.
OH, also, please put an OOC at the end of your post and tell me what equipment you have at the moment. I.E. weapons, any armor, herbs/potions or whatever, erm, magics? and fighting style as well. thanks. (I might throw it in the quest profile or something. for reference's sake too).

OOC- I've waited so long for this...now...what to write...
IC- Chori folowed Di'Ethe and Naur in a hurry. As always, she didn't look back. When they reached the next chamber, Di'ethe dropped Eagle onto the cold, hard floor. The enemies came running in. At first the three tried to fight them off, but there were just too many. "We have no chance!" Chori signaled Di'Ethe. They had to leave. "We can't just leave Eagle here!" Chori protested. But the other two refuted her. Di'ethe set up his trap, and Naur fled. Chori fought off some enemies with her sword. When she suddenly got a chance, she made a fast break for the door. She raced off down the corridor, Di'Ethe behind her.
Finally, she entered the next chamber. Again, she felt delerious, but in a good way this time. Chori saw her horse from home, Selenay. Without thinking, she mounted her favorite horse and rode of into the field, which had appeared along with the horse. For only the second time in her life, she let her hair down. The wind in her hair felt fantastic. She loved it. At a signal from her mistress, Selenay broke into a gallop. Chori held onto her mane for dear life. It felt so good, the thrill. The warm day and gentle sun made the Princess smile. Selenay leaped high over a large rock and landed quite gracefully, barely jarring the rider. The Chestnut mare rode on and on, until they reached their normal stopping place: Oak Hill. Chori dismounted her horse and began to practice her fighting. However, when she turned around, Selenay was gone.
OOC- I have a Longsword, Shortbow, arrows, two cloaks of Silence, potions of invisibility, scent erasure, and Evasion. I have two Herbs that heal wounds...and thats it, I think.
One could do worse than be a swinger of birches

IC: The trap was set. Di'Ethe turned and ran forward. It was a simple trap really. A mixture of magic and mechanics. Whoever ran passed it would trip it and receive a fireball to the chest while he staggered from tripping on the wire, the trap would reset itself forever till someone disarmed it. He hoped none following could even figure out the magic he had used let alone disarm the trap.
He rushed forward and jumped through the thin film of water.......
He landed neatly on the other side and turned to look back to see if any were following. Spotting none he breathed a sigh of relief.
"Di'Ethe." A soft voice called out from behind. He turned to look at a shimmering form of Li'Gelia.
"Are you well?"
Di'Ethe only nodded stunned.
"Well, at least there's some of me left in this world. I'm not all gone yet."
"How....... ?"
"It's hard to explain and it's not important. Come speak with me, tell me how you've come here."
Di'Ethe sat down forgetting his worries, he began to speak.
OOC: Um. Di'Ethe has his usual. Bow, Cloak, Darts, Dagger, Spells, Arrows, herbs etc etc.

OOC: I'm back, sooooooooo....... hi? been very busy, but not much work this week, altho i have exams at the end of next week, so i'll be back for a bit, then i might leave for a week again. anyways, my writing's a little rusty, and i'm not exactly sure what's going on, so here it goes....
IC: Tam was in the back of the army. they pressed forward through the tunnel and into a chamber. he didn't know where the army was going, but that was ok. it seemed they were chasing someone or something, but he was just riding along with the army. didn't even know what army it was, but they gave him food and beer if he fought with them, and they went places, so he'd have a chance to question the local people they encountered and find his bretheren.
there was a bit of room to spread out in the chamber, so he uncorked his drinking horn and took a sip of mead. then he was being pushed forward again. towards the other end of the chamber, where it went into another tunnel, he had to walk on bodies of army members, they were so thick on the ground. fighting some pretty good enemies. tam re-slung his drinking horn and drew his sword. then he noticed another body close to the tunnel entrance that wasn't dressed in the army tunic. Tam was scared speachless, unable to move on his own, but was pushed towards the body by the advancing mob of the army. The body was SE.
He was just about up to SE's body when the army slowed and stopped. He pulled SE's body over just beside the tunnel entrance to keep him from being trampled. SE didn't appear to be alive. Tam propped him up, took out a small bottle from his pack, opened SE's mouth, poured some of the bottle's contents into it and forced him to swallow.
SE sputtered and coughed, and his eyes came open. "Magical elven whiskey." Tam told eagle, clasping his hand in the atw handshake "Best medecine in the world, could even reanimate the dead, some say." SE returned the handshake as if by reflex, but otherwise didn't respond. "After getting the carrots for the bunnies, I found a bar, went on a week long bender, and ended up in some random army, don't even know what army it is. then i wound up here." Eagle made absolutely no response. Tam noticed then that the eyes, although open, were glazed as if in death.
He was now seriously scared for eagle. something was very wrong. he did a quick analysis. Nothing was physically wrong with SE, and he responded automatically to any physical stimulant, which would respond the returned handshake that all the brethern were readily familiar with. His mind, however, or at least the part that thought, was not there. this was not a problem that tam could deal with. he needed to find help. but first, they needed to get away from this army which tam now realized was fighting against the war-angels.
word was being passed back through the army that they had stopped because the tunnel ahead was trapped. tam had an idea. he stood up, pulling the body that used to be SE after him. after the initial stimulus was given, SE's body walked on its own, and tam only had to steer it. he pulled SE behind him as he pushed through the army ahead calling "master trap disarmer coming through! everyone move aside!"
They reached the trap, and tam knelt down pulling the animated body in which SE's soul at times resided down behind him so that SE appeared to be examining the trap with him. Tam examined the trap quickly as he spoke to the unresponsive eagle beside him. "looks like di'ethe set a little trap. i recognize his work. pretty good trap. luckily it was set up hastily, or it would be a long time for me to disarm it, even though i've worked on traps with him before. unfortunatley, because it was so quickly put together, i can't get us through and leave the trap up. if i do enough to temporarily disable it, the whole thing will just collapse anyways. we'll have to hope that we can run fast enough to catch up with di'ethe and whoever's with him before the army does."
Eagle, of course, didn't respond. he probabily didn't even hear, as the part of his mind that would do that was locked far, far away.
with that, tam had finished working on the trap. there was just one last little thing that he was saving so that they could get going as soon as the trap was down and put some space between themselves and the army behind them. tam beckoned to the soldier directly behind them, who bent over towards them. "this sucker's almost done, but i need another file. can you do me a favor and run back and get one. the soldier turned, and while he was pushing through the front row of the enemy, tam cut the final string, tam was pushing the eagle-zombie up and into a dead run, and following behind with one hand on eagle's shoulder to steer him through the tunnel.
The soldier pushing backwards through his comrades gave them a few precious extra seconds, and they were well ahead of the army before it could begin persuit. soon, tam saw a waterfall blocking the path ahead of them. as eagle did not see it, he did not stop running, and went right into the waterfall. tam, hoping it wasn't like the last one that they had come through to reach this, had no choice but to follow.
****
he was home. no, not home in the garden, not the home in this world, but HOME. in his own world. sitting at a round table decked out for a family meal in the hall of his ancestral home. the home that the forces of evil had destroyed tens of thousands of years ago. to his left was seated his wife, heavy with a child that would never be born. His wife, who had perished along with everyone in that home before Tam could save her. To her left was his sole daughter, just blosseming into a fair young elven maiden at age 33, who had died next to her mother as tam fought his way across the courtyard to reach them. to tam's right were his three sons. closest to him was his youngest, just 19 years old, or equal to a ten year old human, when the attack came. he had nevertheless picked up a sword and used what he had learned from his father and brothers to defend his mother and sister until it cost him his own life. just beyond him were the twins who at 40 were skilled swordsmen and archers, nearly grown and old enough to have been out riding with their father when the attack had come, and who had returned just in time to see their entire family die at the hands of the forces of darkness. after the three of them returned, not a single attacker left the estate alive. but they had arrived too late, and the attackers had already infliceed their damage. those two and tam were the only three survivors of his family after that fatefull day. the last two seats at the table were occupied by tam's parents, the oldest generation in that world who had not boarded the ships and passed into the west. tam's father who had long ago given up all forms of fighting and for millenium lived a life of peace, and who on that day took up his sword, the family sword, which tam now bore, for one final time and stood at the door of the ancestral home, denying the assailants entrance, defending his family within with his last ounce ofstrength. tam's mother, who had not left her husband's side, who had stood behind him in the doorway and had allowed entrance to the home only over her dead body.
they were all here. they were back, sitting around the table in the hall. they all clasped hands around the circular table and tam's father began the prayer of thanksgiving before the meal, and with the sound of his father's voice and the feel of his wife clasping his one hand and his youg boy grabbing the other, everything came back to tam. it was the night before the attack. he had another chance. he could be there this time. they didn't all have to die.
a second chance. that was the single best thing that he could ever wish for. maybe everything was just a nightmare, a preminition to tell him that the attack would come on the morrow, that he had to be home. but now he knew. his family was saved. they were returned to him.
a single tear of joy ran from the corner of tam's eye as his father finished the prayer.
ooc: tam has his blue sword of ancient elven make, a self-made longbow with a quiver of arrows, woodsmans garb over which he is currently wearing the tunic of the army chasing them, a long and a short woodsman's knife, and a small woodsman's/traveling pack containing some provisions, a waterskin full of water, a drinking horn only half full of mead, and a bottle of fine elven whiskey.
