Hi Ammie,
Too bad I somehow didn't know about this site before, or I would have been posting here on a regular basis.
After months of trying(and I mean "trying") to arrange therapy for my Kyle in a nearby town where supposedly they had more professional resources that I could get here in podunkville, I had an aggravating first appointment with an OT who was supposedly doing the intake for the "team."
Kyle is my second "special needs" child and my youngest of four, so I am not exactly in the dark when it comes to this whole process. Nevertheless, this person still felt she had to go through the whole nine yards of "he might not benefit from therapy, he might plateau, what we do here is not a substitute for school or home, blah, blah, blah."
Isn't it enough that I think he would benefit from therapy, his family doctor, and the HMO, for crying out loud, thinks he will benefit from therapy?
I wish I could say this was the first time this had happened. Very, very aggravating.
