Straying from the primary method is to be expected, but you're describing the method well enough now that I think you'll see the benefits yourself and will tighten down the screws as you learn. You'll be running a "tight ship" as they say! And tight ships, as Norweigian ship builders know, keeps that ship from sinking!
When you give someone an opportunity to come back on their own to read your rebuttal to a point that they make, that's the most effective way to display confidence, in my opinion. Other readers will see that you're "sitting back", quite comfortable with yourself. They will see your rebuttal. And the ball will be in the court of the person who made the initial attack.
If THEY reappear, fine. If THEY do NOT reappear, then your point has been made. Check. And mate!!!
Treat your forum, this one, as your castle, and your kingdom. Instead of being a knight, galloping all over the place trying to slay dragons, simply sit on your throne, within these walls, as king, and wait for your attackers to sling arrows while you return the volley.
Invite others to this castle with a simple link or URL-- it doesn't matter that it's not an active link-- along with the 'teaser' or "short, one small paragraph rebuttal" with "More at..." and another URL pointer to this forum.
Thanks for considering trying it this way! Again, I'll be observing things over the next few weeks as you do this and will offer feedback where I sense you might appreciate it. For now, though, "arrivederci!" [Italian, "until we meet again; implies a temporary parting"] It's all in your hands, now!
