... it was about 12:30 pm that my mother woke me up, claiming it was imperative that I do so. I asked why, and this is what I found out.
The towers were not bombed, but rather, had a jet flown into each of them, and imploded shortly thereafter. About 40 minutes later, ANOTHER plane was crashed into the Pentagon... nearly an hour or so after that, one came down in Shanksville, Somerset County, PA.
It's the PA crash that has me shaken. Supposedly, the closest targets to the rural field where the jet came down are Pittsburgh's steel reserves, or something more devastating than that... Pennsy's energy supply. As in NUCLEAR energy...
... Three Mile Island. The 1979 near-disaster that took a decade of cleanup, and has fueled most anti-nuclear power acts since. Should that have been the target, who knows what may have happened... The initial disaster had government officials in Washington concerned for people's safety. Had the reactor core exploded, the blast would have reached as far as maybe Ohio... meaning that the eastern blast radius would have definitely hit Philadelphia... where, 22 years later, I sit in the thick of some terrorist attack.
Another thing. All the hijacked flights were commercial airlines going cross-country. Two from Boston, supposedly to L.A, one from DC to L.A, and one (the Pennsy crash) from Newark, NJ to San Francisco. Each one, as may be expected, had a full tank of fuel... enough to ensure full speed impact for each crash...
And furthermore, take a careful look at the date... 9/11/01... take the day and month one digit at a time... 9-1-1... Out here (Actually, in Phoenxville, but that's Chester County... part of the Philly metro area), there were reported sightings of pipe bombs, some real, some fake. Whoever was leaving the real ones left a note with some cyptic message... apparently, part of his intnent was to blow up a nuclear plant in Limerick Township... Montgomery County... County Seat, Norristown... which is roughly 40 miles from the heart of downtown Philadelphia...
... And as it happens, all airports are closed. Why bring that up, you ask? Well, I work for UPS. And in particular, for the facility known as the "Airport Hub" for its close proximity to Philadelphia Int'l Airport... and a likely place any terrorist would attempt to use as an alternate should Airport security prove too tight to get close...
Please take this as seriously as it should be. I, as well as my father both think the next target would be Chicago, then the West Coast itslf, leaving Philly ignored as it tends to be anyway. In 1994, a bombing was attempted on the World Trade Center, and then in 1995, we had the Oklahoma City disaster... five years later, the random sightings of pipe bombs in Chester County... All I can say is that I hope whoever it is that's responsible is swiftly, as Bush said, "Hunted down and punished". Then we can all rest easy.
... 9/12/01. A US judge had set the afformentioned date as the sentencing date for an associate of one Osama bin Laden, a Saudi terrorist thought to be living in Afghanistan. The sentencing was to be held at the courthouse by the trade center (As in World Trade Center).
Who's this bin Laden, you ask. Well, he's thought to be the man behind the attacks on the US embassy in Africa... his associate was caught after the attack in Tanzania in 1998. bin Laden is also thought to be tied to a bombing of a US naval ship in Yemen recently. Washington has a five million dollar price on his head, as he's deemed to be the most serious immediate threat to the country itself.
And hopefully, not to worry for Pennsylvanians. ALL nuclear plants in the state are under tight security... though I still don't know about UPS tonight... I know the situation, but I'm not one to let something like terrorism keep me from my duty. And besides that, they'd have called me if we were closing, but who knows?
Just everyone out there stay safe. All we can do is hope for the best right now.
... forgot to mention the 9/11 date significance. Aside from the Camp David accord, again, take each digit one at a time... 9-1-1... the number for emergency response... not to mention, the bomber out here left some date on his notes. My mother works for Chester County emergency response, but she can't recall the date he left on it right now, but that was the date he intended to bomb the power plant.
In the midst of this dark tragedy, I want to point out the bright spot...President Bush. his address ,less than five minutes, contained both anger against the perpetrators and hope for the American masses. It was as if Ronald Reagan himself was speaking to us, telling Gorbechev to "tear down that wall". Had it been Clinton, he would have talked at least twenty times as long and turned it into his own self-aggrendizing show. Bush has showed firm yet measured judgement, doing what is needed, neither idle nor glory-grabbing. Yesterday I heard talk of an economic recession that may result from this blast. The irresponsible media will say the younger Bush is just like his fatherlike it's a bad thing. Hopefully it will shut them up, though, about "he has no gravitas" and "he's an idiot". He's shown at least as much presidential timber as the elder Bush...if not more.
I am aware of the Bombing Attacks on the World Trade Center of NY and the Pentagon and Camp David. And on how plenty have died while there were some people injured.
This is indeed serious news and the idea of making any sort of humor about this news may seem cold & heartless at first. But there are some different details in this story that people will want to jab on. Such as how schools all around were at first allowed to watch the news about the events but soon afterwards they strictly told us not to. I dunno for all I know it could be just in the County I live in which is the Broward County. Apparently the superintendent there has this bright idea that all high schoolers should NOT be allowed to learn more about the attacks. I'm not kidding you at first the teachers went against it and tried to show us the news anyways. But if teachers showed their students the news they will lose their job so that had to turn the set off. I am not kidding you the school board was trying to stop us High schoolers from learning any more of this event even if it means firing the teachers. Now that is just insane. And frankly I wouldn't be the least bit suprised if that has happenend anywhere else in the country. OK maybe I can see why this would happen to Elemantry to Middle schoolers...BUT WHY HIGH SCHOOLERS?! And for another bit of news only some schools were allowed to evacuate while the others weren't and were suppose to "go on as if nothing happenend". So basically there were some absurdities that people will joke on.
Such as how people wonder what the heck was the CIA doing right before it happenend? (Heck some are wondering if this will lead to a conspiracy theory.) Or on how business & school systems around the country were affected. (And how a good amount of buildings many miles away from NY, D.C or PA were evacuated.) There are all sorts of fears and theories about what happenend and what would happen. But it has been said that he should try to calm down. Geez isn't this the 3 year in-a-row when something a serious event rocked our nation? And on how they always seem to get worse over time? I do hope this will not lead into problems in the future.
Every other generation has a "where were you when it happened story?" we have Pearl Harbor, JFK's assasination, and now this. My response is that I was in school at 9:40 when the principal annouced for us to turn on the television inside our room, and we saw the horror. We were dismissed at 12, I doubt they'll keep us out of school tomorrow though but I hear business will be closed. And if Bush does declare war there's no way we could let airlines back in business until that ends so that's something for him to think about. B.B, you could have said any curse word you wanted about what you hoped would happen to the perpitraitors next and I'd be one to commend you.
...I was sick this morning, at around 9:30 A.M. I get up from sleep to eat a little something. I go to Toon Zone, hear of this, turn on the TV, and see what happened. My God.
Damn them all to Hell...they will pay....and frankly, I do not think editing is nessacary here...
my comment to those idiots who causing pain all day....
September 11 2001, 9:22 PM
Like I said at ToonZone, The sickest thing that those hi-jacking creeps did, makes me say the sickest thing. The person or persons who ever responsible with that junk will deserve their heads chopped off and while in hell their heads will be on the pitch fork by saitan
As a preacher's kid, I don't agree with all the terminology used, but I do agree with y'alls point. Let us hope that those idiots who are responsible will be brought to justice, RIGHT NOW!
I will also wrap up the awards, in just a little bit. But I just had to say that first.
