I recently have developed pain on the medial aspect of my lower leg (perhaps medial tibial shin splints?) I am running my first marathon in 2 1/2 weeks and this is my last week of full training. I have taken 3 days off from running, but attempted this morning and had to return home due to pain in what feels like behind the tibia. The soft tissue on the inside part of my lower leg feels like it is very bruised. No pain when palpating over the tibia, or Achilles tendon. I have full range of motion in my foot. It only seems to be painful when I start running or jump. What to do? I have trained hard ( since July)for this race in hopes of qualifying for the Boston and hate the thought of not being able to race. Any suggestions? If I continue to rest, will this affect my endurance, anticipated time, etc. if I run? I am getting quite discouraged. Any help? |
