Training in 10 weeks?

I am hoping to run my first full marathon on Oct 15 in Hendersonville, NC and am running out of time. The location is close and the course description sounds amazing, however, I do only have 10 weeks to train for this event and am currently able to run 3 miles in under 22 minutes. I completed my first 1/2 marathon last spring in Knoxville, TN with a time of 1:58. This Oct race is purely for enjoyment and personal achievement...I don't really care about time. Being a 22 year old male I felt I might be able to increase my training at a fast rate than the recommended 17-20 week period. Does any think this is too short of a time span to train? Thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

Dan

Your time for running 3 miles isn't really relevant. The key to running a marathon is endurance. Most 18 week programs start at relatively low miles, particularly if they're geared for first timers. Find one on the Web and determine where you'd be had you started on time. Maybe you could start from there. Be careful, though, because adding miles too quickly is a good way to get injured. Pace yourself. Go slow. Listen to your body.
