Hi, has anyone got any tips or pointers for me? I have run quite a few 5km races, 10km races and just completed my second half marathon. I am a female veteran runner of 40 years old. I keep my hand in doing various races throughout the year but next year I want to do my first Marathon. It's something I have always wanted to do.

I however do find doing a half marathon fairly hard going although my times in running keep improving. At the moment I got out running on a Wednesday night, a Friday night and go to the gym on a Sunday. On the evenings during the week I tend to run about 6 miles, the same at the gym on a treadmill. How much should I increase the frequency and mileage for a Marathon, anyone got any tips about keeping myself going, for a Marathon I think I am going to find it hard to motivate myself to keep going for hours on end. Any advice would be most welcome. I am giving myself over 12 months to train as I would rather be over prepared than under and know this will put a big strain on my body. Any nutrition advice would be welcome too.

Any tips or advice would be gratefully received, thank you.

Thanks Lottie xx
