Bulging disc

I was running over 100 mpw for many months, towards the end of my base phase, I woke up with a twisted pelvis, after x rays and an MRI I found that I have a bulging disc and twisted pelvis. I have been off of running since Octover 2006, and will begin spinal decompression this month ( april ). My question is, I'm still registered for Chicago next October- lets say i'm lucky enough to begin running again by July, and I have three full months- will I have to rebuild my base, or can I somehow use one month as a strong mileage month and jump straight to my speed work?
( I'm 23, ran 4 years division 1 xc/trk in college, and am now being coached by a Reebok Team fellow runner- chicago would be my debut if I am able to run it..)
