Knee Injury / Training?

Hello,

I started running 4 months ago - first sporadically then I started to follow the mileage buildup schedule. All went well until week 8. All of a sudden my knee cap started to hurt, so that I needed to stop running. The pain is not from within the knee but literally on the top of the knee cap. Is this what is referred to as runner's knee?

Anyway, I applied Ibuprofen Creme which worked fine and after 4 days without workout (Christmas break is coincidence...) I had my first day running again (back to 3 miles). The knee hurt a little after that, but nothing compared to one week ago. So what mileage should I follow from here? Surely I should not jump into the week 9 routine?

I would be very grateful for any help forum members could offer.

Many thanks!

Sierk.

I would start back at the beginning. You also might find as the weather warms up (not knowing where you live) the pain may lessen. I feel my aches and pains more in the cold weather than in warm.

My 2 cents.
Good luck
