Broken big toe

I've been training to run my first marathon using the State of the Art plan. Two weeks ago, at mile 4 of my 23 mile long(est) run, I broke my big toe tripping over a tree root. The marathon is two weeks from now. I went to the ER right away and have buddy taped the toe continuously since then, also icing it for most of the past two weeks and elevating it when I can. I had a reinjury after one week when something fell on the toe. The toe is recovering fine now. Swelling is gone, no pain. I've been bicycling and using the eliptical machine without pain. No running, not even on the treadmill. I see the doc again tomorrow. Will I be able to run the marathon?

Thanks for the post. Doc gave me the clearance to run as of tomorrow and see how it responds. Being anxious and wanting to test things, I hit the treadmill yesterday for 3 miles (OK) and did 6 this morning for a test--mostly on road with some trail. Everything is within manageable limits. I've also made some modifications to my shoe to protect the broken toe. I'm planning on pressing forward.
