I am following suggested training at marathontraining.com have now only the final week of the 'mileage build' up left, (This is a 20 week build up from 4 to 10 miles, longest run and 35 miles in a week at it's max) This has taken me since dec because of minor strains & pains, (IT band).
I have 8-9 weeks until montreal (1/2) marathon, my first ever, only started running last june. Should I do say the last 4 weeks on the mileage build up again (9 and 10 miles longest run, 35 miles per week) and then the beginner's 1/2 marathon schedule which is 4 weeks building up to 13 miles or should I do the 8 program week one and build up to 16 miles. Common sense is suggesting the former, but then having 13.1 miles well within my range rather than just outside it is appealing?
