Roy passed away in 1994. His brother Herman, who has contributed a massive amount of the photos on this site, sent this picture of Roy while he was a basketball player at UNC-Chapel Hill. It's located at http://www.sshe.org/RoySearcy.htm
Roy Searcy was a 1954 graduate of Tri-City Senior High School and was a member of its 1953 North Carolina State Championship high school basketball team. He was also one of the Co-captains of the West All Star Team in 1953.
Roy graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1958. He was a junior on UNC's 1957 NCAA National Championship team.
Roy died of colon cancer on December 24, 1994 in Winston Salem, NC. He is a member of the Eden YMCA Hall of Fame. (Photo and information submitted by Herman Searcy)
