Looking for information about several different areas of local history. So, here is my "wish list".
1) CHARLES REYNOLDS-Lt governor around the turn of the 20th Century. Son of Dr. Thomas Reynolds in Leaksville. His Mom was the niece of Governor John Morehead and he was the brother in law of Dr. Thomas Taylor.
2) DR PHIL RAY- As most of you might know from an article a while back in the Eden (LEAKSVILLE) News, his middle daughter Rachel Wright (a very good friend of mine) is compling ANY information on her Dad. I gladly voluntered to help her in this effort. Give her a call if you have any info or email me.
3) Any other medical information-Especially interested in the early doctors and the early years of Leaksville Hospital. Have already located the photo of the hospital when it was built when the main steps went up to the 2nd floor. Looking for stories about the doctors, nurses, pictures, stories, old medical bills etc etc. Now come on, I know my grandmother is not the only one who has never thrown anything away. Don't forget about the nursing school that Drs Tyner and Casteen operated until around 1950. Here are some of the names (in no particular order) TAYLOR, REYNOLDS, AB JOHNS (SR & JR), SYD MARTIN, WM MARTIN, DILLARD, TUTTLE, MATTHEWS, SAM PACE, DIXON, JONES, COX, GUERRANT, PHIL RAY, JOHN RAY.
Eventually all of this information will be put together in some type of book and journal, hopefully to be published somewhere.
This is a great website. Especially happy to see the photos of Kenneth Samuels, who was my uncle. Thanks for posting those.
