Here is what I meant to post

Hi~I love the website! My father born and raised in Leaksville as was much of his family. His name was Francis Lloyd Wilkins (later Frank because he thought Francis was a "sissy name") I notice there is a "Brownie Wilkins" listed on the NICKNAMES page. My father told me numerous times that he was known in his youth as Brownie and Sonky. I wonder if this is that is him on the page? I sent Mr. Carter an email. He was born in 1920 to Robert Lee and Virginia Simpson Wilkins. I know that one of his grandmothers was named Laura Alice Carter. His best friend growing up and also his uncle (near the same age) was Francis Buckner who was married to Lorraine(Robert Lee Wilkins' sister who still lives there to my knowledge) My father had two sisters, Marion (Peggy) and Margaret. ANY information anyone can give me on this family would be WONDERFUL! My father told me once that his father Robert Lee Wilkins was once president of 3 combined union locals-THe AFofL, the Textile WOrkers of America, and one more that I can't recall right off hand. THANKS I remembered! the 3rd Union local was the CIO...also I found out that this may have been when he was working for the Hanes Underwear Co.in Mayoday, NC. He later worked for the Marshall Fields Co. in Leaksville making bedspreads I believe.
