Maybe we can be of help to each other. I am looking for any information on the early physician's that where in in Leaksville (Eden).
Now Dr. Casteen's grandson and ? namesake is Kenan Wright and is a businessman here in Eden working with his dad, Homer Wright who married Betsy Casteen. Now I had a conversation with Homer over 10 years ago and he was a wealth of info on Dr. Casteen. For example, Dr. Casteen NEVER sent out bills to his patients for the simple reason that he believed that patients knew what their debts where and he saw no reason to waste the time, paper and postage to send out bills.
I know there is a black and white photo of Betsy Casteen Wright when she was the flower girl in the wedding of Dr. Phil Ray and Bessie Clark in 1930. One of Dr. Phil's daughters has the photo.
I have a copy of the old Leaksville Hospital from about 1924 before it opened.
I also remember riding the school bus when I was in the 5th grade (1961-1962) with Betsy and Homer's twin daughters who were in high school at that time.
Morehead Hospital has a large oil portrait of both Dr. Casteen and Dr. Tyner that are hanging across from the employees elevators on the 1st floor. I sure wish they could be moved to a more visual place where more people could see them. (sorry that is a pet peeve of mine).
As Dr. Casteen passed away about the time I was born I would love to know what you know about him.
