Bobby Roberts of Eden formerly Leaksville

I am an infectious diseases specialist at Moses Cone Health System in Greensboro, NC and have been researching the first use of antibiotics in the area. A renowned pediatrician in Greensboro, Dr. Samuel Ravenel, was the first to report the antibiotic (para-aminobenzoic acid and no longer in use) treatment of Rocky Mountain spotted fever in l946 and published his report of the successful treatment of 5 patients in the Journal of the Amercian Medical Association in 1947. One of the patients was named in the article as Bobby Roberts, 17 years old, from Leaksvile, NC.I assume that Dr. Ravenel had permission to use his name and of course this was well before such conerns as HIPPA, the recent medical confidentialiy legislation in the U.S. Mr Roberts would be approximately 74 or 75 years old now and I am inquiring if any Leaksvillians may remember him, is he still living, and where? I would only want to congratulate him on his good fortune and longevity. Please email (tim.lane@mosescone.com) me if you know. Thank you, Timothy Lane,MD
