If Tigerlily or her friends post again, don't reply unless you want to be deleted. They have spilled their harrassment from the board to email, so the mods are getting frustated. We have agreed that we will now delete anything they post. It doesn't matter what they post- HP-related or just yelling again. They said they wanted to leave, then stayed and only caused problems. I know we'll get the same "freedom of speech" argument, but its gone on to become harrassment for the mods and we have decided the best way to get rid of it is to delete the problem. We have their IPs, so even if they change their name, it doesn't matter. We will begin deleting each and every post they make, so if you reply, just be warned that your post will be deleted with theirs if you directly connect your reply to their post.
If you say something extremely relevent, we might just edit them out and leave yours up...but for the most part, the mods will be deleting everything just so you're warned.

Freedom of speech isn't something that applies here. This is the internet, NOT America. It always seems to me that the people that stand behind the words FOS are usually contradicting hypocrites. Especially in this case.

I'm just warning that's going to happen. Tigerlily has a friend who claims he's an expert in Constitutional law. Well, if he's a friend with a 15 year old, it means he took a history class in high school on the subject and maybe did some outside reading on his own. That's not becoming an expert- that's a hobby.
I do study constitutional law at a juris doctorate level. If he really knew much, he'd know that he doesn't have a freedom of speech on internet message boards run by other people. Dakota is the person who censors this board. If he doesn't want someone coming on to harrass everyone...then he has the right to censor them. Now, Tigerlily and this guy can say whatever they want on their own boards or they can set up their own webpages and say as much as they like. They cannot be censored there unless it brings substantial harm.
But on a board managed by other people...and in email run by an outside company...you are censored if your actions are unreasonable. Yahoo mail retains the right to censor if the emails are threatening and unreasonable. Earthlink can terminate your service if you say things beyond its limits of censor. You are only afforded that right in the public sphere...not on a privately owned property.
And as Narc said, this is not a board based on the American Constitution. Not everyone here is American. A good deal of people aren't, in fact. So you can't use an American concept on an international board.

I applaud this action. Enough is enough. I agree that freedom of speech does not apply in this case. They have no reasonable expectation of being included in what is a conversation amoung a group of people.
Also, a lot of time, energy and space was being wasted on a person or persons who are just seeking attention at any price.
I hope that deleting the posts is not a hard or cumbersome job for the moderators.
Thank you moderators for your efforts!

Ordinarily, MadEye, I would consider this an enormous pain in the posterior. In this case, however, I am finding considerable pleasure in the delete button.
For example, in the past half hour I have had the pleasure of deleting three posts (and one entire thread) from this delightful (cough, choke) bunch and it feels darn nice.
People know what they do; they frequently know why they do what they do; but what they don't know is what what they do does.

I knew about Tigerlily being a pain in the butt, but what are the names of the people with her so people like me, who are not on as much as they would like anymore, know who to watch out for?

Well, she's been blocked from yahoo now, too. She made the mistake of making me a direct threat in an email...which is all you need to get Yahoo in on it. You can say rude things in emails, like calling people a moron, jerk, etc...but you can't make a directed threat. So even if it was implausible for her to complete it, she screwed herself over there.

What are you doing, getting her e-mails terminated? That's funny! Sucks to be her, but hey, "Stupid is as stupid does" right? lol

Well, to sound like a kid, she started it...and caused it. How stupid do you have to be to lie on yahoo in order to make a directed threat against someone?

I wonder what's going on in her head. I mean, first she messes up on the board and people get mad at her. Then instead of apologizing, she gets rude and when even more people yell at her, she goes whining to her friends to help her insult those evil people over the internet.

Well, she must be younger than me. I'm what you'd call a kid because I'm 12 (So is Silverbolt) and we don't go typing junk and sending threats to Helen. Perhaps she's secretly a 4 year old or something... No! My friends sister is 4 and she wouldn't do something like that! Probably a toddler with a tantrum?!
I love that canary!

To ban someone from yahoo, they take the letter and look at it objectively, seeing if a reasonable person would find it to be a joke or not. In my case, she wrote that she was actually a member of my law school, that she knew who I was, that I better watch my back, and that I was going to suffer an "accident". Well, I just ran a trace on the IP and it came back from New York, so yeah right...
But Yahoo doesn't care about that. If they see the text, they will also go into that person's account and see your replies back to them and see if you took it as a joke or something like that...
So I wrote back indicating that I thought it was serious. Yahoo sees that, thinks that it's not a joke, and viola- she's banned.

I find it extremely funny actually - People actually believe that they are anonymous on the internet, when in reality they are so easy to trace and track down... how naive can you be?

I know. The funny thing is that when I instigated the ban against her on Yahoo, she had all of her friends come on and try to "get back at me" for it. Her friends are a good deal smarter than her, however, because they didn't try anything as stupid as she did.
