I just got back from seeing this movie a few hours ago. It came out today. It was the one with Uma Therman & Lucy Liu going nuts fighting each other. http://www.movietickets.com/movie_detail.asp?movie_id=39821 That is the link to a summery in case you still are not sure.

*Spoiler!*
This movie was prety good I thought. It was almost 100 % action. It had a lot of comidic moments in it, I think they were unattended, but funny none the less. I have two bad comments about this film, one they were going to do one long 3 hour movie, but changed it to 2 90 minute films (although this was was nearly 2 hours in itself & more then 90 minutes). The other thing I didn't like was they they killed Lucy Liu. Even though she was a bad guy in the film, and she had it comeing, she seemed more like a respectable bad guy who knows what they are doing and also respects her adveserys. I actually came to the movie just to see her fight, I like her. Her fight was awesome, but I'm not so sure that it was the best fight in the movie. I also liked the GoGo fight. GoGo is the name of the character who is the little kid in the movie with the weapon which is the chain with the spiked ball at the end you seen in the previews. I thought it was called a mace, but I recently had an argument with a friend about what it was called, he said that it wasn't a mace because a mace was actually a pole with the spiked ball near the top of it, and it was not attached to a chain. Now I'm confused because both weapons are similere and I don't know which is which, but oh well. All and all, the movie rocked and I can't wait to see the second part, which I found out online shall be four months after the first (so some time in February). If you don't like obviously fake blood then you will not like it. Whenever they made a huge cut in someone, or rip off a limb, a waterfall of bloof comes spraying out like it was a bloody garden hose or soemthing. I mean it was so fake it was obviously intended to be humorus. Which it actually was funny, but after so many people spreying it so much, its humor wore off near the end. The even made one of the flash back scenes in the movie a cartoon. In the cartoon they did the garden hose blood thing in it, which tells us it was what they wanted to do with the other scenes.

As I said in your School of Hard Rock post, this was a classic Tarantino film. The only difference was that this had a woman as the lead, whereas most Tarantino films have men.
However, how much do you want to bet that "Bill" turns out to be Tarantino? He always manages to put himself somewhere in his films.

Didn't they have a face shot of Bill in at least one of the flash back scenes and in the last scene where the girl who got her arm chopped off was telling Bill what happened. I don't know what the director looks like, but was that him?
I thought it was 'School of Rock', not 'Hard Rock'?

I saw Kill Bill, it was alright. The action was great, but you're right about how fake the blood and such looked. I would give it a 6 1/2 out of 10. I liked the last line in it... "does she know her daughter is still alive...?"

I know! That surprised the crap out of me! I can't wait to see the next one! Well, I at least, thought it was really good. Then again, I'm in love with Lucy Liu so anything with her is good to me lol. Well, I guess I was being over dramatic on the last line, but I like her lol.

Ah yes, I forgot about the other guy. Hmm, wasn't Bill's name in the opening credits? I didn't pay attention to the actors names in that part.

I thought so, too. I actually mentioned that I thought Bill was in the opening credits...but apparently some people actually paid attention to that and said he really wasn't. But even if he was, at least one of the person I went with said it might be a pseudo-name...that Tarantino has done that before. However, I also argued that we heard Bill's voice in the movie...it did not sound like Tarantino at all.

Ok, I seen Kill Bill again last night. They showed his face, it was all blurry though. His name WAS in the opening credits, because after this thread I was actually looking for it. I can't remember his name, but I sent it as a text messege to myself lol. Now, we did hear BILL speak in it, 3 times actually. The first was the beginning. That was him. The second was when California Mountin Snake got a call and she answered it "Hello, Bill", and the third was the end when Sophy (amazing why this time around I can remember most of their names lol) was with the man at the end. She was instructed to tell Bill everything, and his voice matched the other two times so it had to be him also. Now speaking of names, did you mention that every time they mentioned Black Momba's REAL name (not actress, but the character's name), they bleeped it out. They did it three times. The first when she fought with Vivica A. Fox's character (so I forgot a name...), they bleeped it when she said her own name to the child, then they bleeped it a second later when Vivica repeated her name to the child. They also bleeped it in the end with the fight with O'Ren (probably wrong spelling but oh well). It was somewhere in that fight she said her name, I can't remember who said it, or if it was in the building fighting all of the people, or if it was in the fight fighting Lucy Liu herself. Also note all the music was like cheesy 70's music? Well my friend Erin and I came up with a theory. We bet by the end of Volume 2, they will say her real name, and it will probably be someone famous from our time (like joking around about a past history she is hideing from or something). It was like that both times I saw the movie, and I saw it at 2 different theaters so it can't be a coincedence. Anybody else notice it?
Now, they also said in the end credits that the characters were based from "The Bride" and said who it was by, btu I can't remember the author's name. Has anybody heard of that book or read it? I was just wondering if they took the characters from the book alone, or if it was based on the book in general.

Well, thought this deserved a little bump (and me adding to it) since the DVD was released Tuesday and Volume 2 came to theaters last night.
Okay, I have not seen the second volume yet, but tonight (Saturday night) I am seeing a 7:00 PM showing with two of my friends. Also, to refresh my memorie I talked my friend into buying Volume 1 on DVD for me and three of us watched it together (Just ended about an hour ago and I just came home. Got to love getting home at 2 AM lol.). Well, after seeing it a third time I would like to point out I am NOT hearing things, the name WAS bleeped out those times. And I found some bloopers. Well two bloopers, then something really funny, and decided I still like my theory about the names (although the cars all look newer so I'm beleiving it a little less even though I still like the idea).
Oh yeah, and when I last made my last responce I did some research and the book never was published. It was canned after so far into the development stage. And apparently a video game for the series was also canned. But, on Yahoo I did find news that their may be two more sequals set in the future with the character's children as the stars but grown up. No idea if that will ever pan out, but I would love to see them if they did.
Now, here are my list of bloopers, and the funny tidbit, and the theory:
1) When the movie starts, and she kills off Vivika A. Fox's character, she crosses her off the list (she was number 2). Now, on paper the list is numbered 1 to 5 in BLACK ink. The names are in BLACK ink. She crosses her off in RED ink. Later on, after she kills Oren Ishii (she was the first one to die, but the movie showed the first two deaths out of order if you couldn't tell by this post), she crosses Oren out, but everything including numbers, names, and the crossed out line is in black ink. Then later, on her flight to North America to kill Vivika, she is shown making a list. Wheather she is making a new second list, or making the first list and they showed Oren being crossed off before they show the list being made isn't very clear to be honest. But, the numbers are in BLACK ink, the names in RED, and the line crossing them out in BLACK. So, three seperate lists, and all of them should be the same right? Well not a single list matches the other. Now, the more important question, why the hell did I notice that???
2) Minor note, when they are introducing Oren Ishii and Sophie Fatal, they say Sophie is to Oren's right. But, if you think about it, she is to the right of the screen. But Oren is steering at the screen, which means Sophie is really to Oren's left. Why I picked up on it, who knows lol.
3) Not so much s blooper as something funny to point out. In the beginning when Black Momba is in the kitchen with Vivika, and Vivika has the box of breakfast cerial, what does the box say? I am half asleep so I can't remember, but if you read it it is something you would say like a sound effect to an explosian (kabam, kaplow, ect.). I can't remember the exact word, but it is kind of funny since she has a gun hiding in the box that she goes trigger happy with while still holding it in the box.
4) Did you notice they only say Black Momba's REAL identity, her real name twice in the fight with Vivika, and I think once in the end. The fight with Vivika they sensor it out. At the end it is like a the person saying the name whispers it, so his voice is not audible. Why? Something to think about. My friend Erin and I came up with the idea that this is set in the past, and at the end of Volume 2 they will say her name unedited, and it will be someone very famous in our age. As if kind of a joke, like haha Mrs. So&So isn't a congress woman, or actress, or whoever, but really a ruthless killing machine. What do you guys think about that?

I saw Vol. 2...first showing...I love Tarantino.
First, Vol. 2 is bloody brilliant.
Two, they do bleep out the "Bride's" (Black Mamba's) name once in the movie and whisper it once in Vol. 2. However, by half way through, they're speaking it like it's no big deal. I don't see why they hid the name in the first place. It plays no part in the movie overall.
And Chris, have you ever seen a Tarantino film? Tarantino did this a bit like Pulp Fiction. Vol. 1 was out of sequence. Black Mamba (aka- "The Bride", aka "Beatrice, aka "Mommy") killed Oren-Shei first, then moved on to copperhead, or Dr. Green's wife, or Vivica Fox. That was her second victim, so the list WAS NOT WRONG.

In all honesty, I knew that. I don't feel like reading what I wrote but since it was like 1-2 AM I have no doubt I screwed up my description. I mean I knew the order they died in was out of order, well the order we saw them was out of order (because Oren died first, which is what you said and what is correct). I guess making a thread responce at 2 AM will mess me up. But what I meant about the list being wrong was that all three times the ink was different on all three lists. I don't know what I said that made me look dumb, maybe that was it, maybe that wasn't. But I knew Oren died first. It was simple to figure out even if you didn't read the list because she verbaly said that the first on her list was Oren, since being the queen of the Hong Kong underground she makes her presence known (maybe not Hong Kong, but you know what I mean).

Okay, I went back anyway and reread my post even though I said I didn't feel like doing it. I'm assuming the following paragraph is where the mix-up lies. In the paragraph I did say she kills Vivica (Vivika, wow, is my spelling getting even worse or what lol?) first, and was the second on the list. Then I did say that she killed Oren second, but was first on the list. But I also mention the movie itself showed the two deaths out of order. I did mean for people to understand the deaths went in order of the list, but the movie showed them swapped. Now I do see where you missinterpreted what I said. But what I was trying to get at for a blooper was that the movie in general showed three lists (all of them with the names in the SAME order as each other), but all three of the lists they used different combinations of red and black ink on the lists, not that they made a blooper by killing the wrong person first. Well, like I said I see how what I said could be missinterpreted, but no harm done. I'm just glad I'm not as dumb as I sometimes make myself out to be, lol!

Oh, and to answer another question I think you had- yes, there is going to be a Kill Bill Vol. 3...but don't start waiting for it.
Tarantino is trying to ensure cult film status for this movie. He's going to be shooting Kill Bill 3 over the course of 9 years (that's his plan, anyway). You know Nikki? She's the little daughter of Copperhead, Vivika Fox's daughter. Tarantino wants to film her growing up over the years, training to take out Beatrice (Uma Thurman). So in 9 years (which will allow all the actors to age naturally), he will release the last chapter of revenge. After all, aside from Elle Driver, it was about the only loose end in the entire movie.

Hmm, I wonder how big of a role Nikki's father will have, if any, since he wasn't in theither volume of this one. I'm assuming he was not home in the plot to leave it open for her father to explain to Nikki about her mother's past and who Black Momba was. Then again that is a story line I came up with in 2 seconds, but with Terintino and a full 9 years I'm expecting that movie to be a classic.

I sure am jumping into this post late, I finally rented and "BLAH". I found it boring after a while, the blood gushing got repetative(but i was watching it late at night, so i was drowsy). I didn't really catch the last 30 mins, i was in and out of sleep. Very unlrealistic blood, and way too excessive, hands and legs do not spray that bad. I thought adding the anime was kinda original, but robbed the overall character of oren. I did like when they switched to black and white in the massive fight scene, but was overall dissapointed with the lack of real plot, seemed too much fighting.(reminded me alot of Matrix:Rel0aded, some plot, alot of fighting, ZzZzZz). Now i Have to watch Vol 2, just to see if i find out why they were trying to kill her at the wedding, in fact maybe i should re-rent the movie and watch the last 30 mins while awake...
Overall i thought it was good(but glad i only rented it) I will probably go see kill2 in theatres b/c i can't wait long for "endings"

The thing about the blood, it was suposed to be so excessive that it looked fake. I was told that it was kind of something that the director does throw in his movies as like a trademark type thing.
There was a plot. It is really easy to follow actually. Basicaly Bill has a group called "The Deadly Viper Assasination Squad", with all five having snake names as their code names. If you got the last half hour of vol. 1, you would know the main idea of why Black Momba (The Bride) left the group and hid from Bill. Well, actually that was kind of at the beginning now that I think about it. I'm thinking in reverse I guess. But when she said the baby was his, well they basicaly want you to come up with in your own mind she was in love with him, had a child with him, and wanted to get out of "the buisness" for the sake of the child. I won't really say any more at all and spoil it for you because vol. 2 gets more deeper into the plot and tells you exactly what you want to know...if the idea they planted in your head at the beginning of vol. 1 was correct or not. I will say I think you will like vol. 2 better.
I don't know, I really think it actually added on to Oren. I mean Black Momba could just tell you the basic background as a narrator, but the way they did it with Oren showed you actually what she went through, and it kind of showed you a glimpse into her mind so you saw how sad and angry she was, and what her reactions were to the guy who murdered her family, and then led us to where she is today. I personaly hate anime with a passion, but after seeing it I can honestly say I have a new respect for it because of the way Quinten put it in the film.
