Okay, folks. Cross your fingers or pray or whatever it is you do that works for you. The fires are really horrible. I just talked to Michelle by IM and she says they are pretty close to where she lives. It is scary and awful and a lot of people are in a real fix.

Weird for me, too, since I actually know that area and lived there for a year while I was in college. I can't tell you how hard it is to picture that area, which is very populated in such a mess over wildfires. Usually, you think of more remote areas (at least, in AZ you do).

Good luck, Michelle!

I've been avoiding the news because my friends nephue was murdered and it's all over the news, so someone fill me in on the fires.

Oh, Sandy, remember how I said that he fell down the stairs, went upstairs went to bed and never woke up and died in his sleep? It was a cover up. Their was no baby sitter. The mother's boy friend beat the poor boy to death.

Yup Sandy, It's pretty bad. A large part of Claremont is gone, and I know that you went to college there! My school hasn't been closed yet, but the ash and smoke are really disgusting. The Santa Ana winds have started kicking up again though, so that's not good. There is another fire in Simi Valley which is not very far from Downtown L.A. They think that they will have it out by Thursday if all goes well.

Now the fires have forced a mandatory evacuation order for Big Bear. My family has a vacation cabin there, so now I have two homes in the line of danger. This is really chaos, and now I am watching our local news and many of the anchors are crying. To us southern Californians, the San Bernardino mountains are very very dear to us and it is a shock to see it all go up in flames. Our local ABC station, the channel 7's news van has gone up in flames, there are about 15-17 people dead and it has spread to Tijuana, Mexico. This is a really terrible and emotional time for me right now. Many people and places that I have known growing up are gone forever.
