Sirius, not dead?

In book 5 it says a "jet of light" hit him. Not nessisarily a green jet of light, also it never says that she said the killing curse. Another thing, they never proved that Sirius was dead. All they said was that he fell through the curtain. Just because he fell through the curtain doesn't mean he is dead. So in book 6 i think that the mirror Sirius gave Harry is going to play a big roll. But if you really think about it, it isn't certain that he is dead!!!

I agree that we havent seen the last of sirius, but i don't think were going to be seeing him in the next books alive. For one, Rowling was crying when she wrote it(she wouldnt cry if he was alive)but the when he fell, he didnt just fall through a curtain, but a veil, or passageway to the dead.also, if it wasnt something that important that he feel through, Remus wouldnt have put up such a fight to keep harry away from it.About the mirror, unless he has some REALLY good glue, thats not gunna come in very handy because he broke it(but that whole mirror thing made me really mad..if he wouldve opened it to begin with, then the whole DoM things couldve been avoided and sirius wouldn't have died..but I guess it was for that better now that the truth is out)Anyways, some think it was just a cover up for some reason, but that would be very wrong to harry(knowing how pissed he off) I dont even think Dumbledore would try something like that now.Thats my opinion, its probably not right, but oh well:-P

Alas, I fear that star has set, folks.  JKR clearly said she would be writing a very difficult character death in OotP.  She has also said on numerous occasions that death is final, even in the wizarding world.  I believe she even said that Sirius' death was to demonstrate how sudden and pointless death can be (or something to that effect... Can anyone find the actual quotation?).

Now, I know there has been some hopeful speculation on the subject of the color of the jet of light, but really, I don't think it was the light that killed him.  I know this has been said before, but I do believe the curse only knocked him backward.  The death was falling through the veil.

In book 5 Luna said "I can hear them behind the vail". I think Sirius is alive in the land of the dead. The fail is a transporter for ministry officials to study the afterlife. This is why it's in the department of mysteries.

under normal curcumstances, i'd just tell you to give up all hope that sirius was alive. but i do think you have a good point here.
wow! can't believe i agreed with a "sirius is still alive" theory.

Sorry guys. She has said in several interviews that Sirius's death is final. He's not Elvis, there will not be any more sightings... he's dead as a doorknob.

Yeah, so it wasn't a green light that hit him, but the description of his fall mirrored Cedric's; he was dead before he went through. Avada Kedavra isn't the only fatal incantation; it's just the most common. Luna's mother killed her self expirementing with a charm, did she not? There was that curse that was used on Hermione where the guy couldn't actually speak the incantation - I'm sure if he had she would be dead too - but the movement described was different, and I believe it was a purple light that hit her.

Lupin and Dumbledore BOTH told Harry that Sirius was gone - I think that they know what mysteries lurk behind the veil and know there is no survival.

Yeah, JKR has said that the death is final, She wouldn't jst straight up lie like that, it would give her to much trouble later on.

He's dead. Gone. Forever away. He is never coming back.

JKR, as said above, said that she was killing off a character. Now, I know that Bode or whatever died and people have said that, but she said she cried while killing of the character. I doubt she'd cry because of some guy at St. Mungo's.

We've tried everything and all the theories, but he will not come back. Even Mo, his numnber one fan, admits that.

(BTW: I clicked on Narc's post about her living on her own by mistake and they were talking about "Christmas Carol" and I was thinking: How did they get that out of Siruis? Lol)

I believe Sirius is gone forever, but Harry can still

communicate with him. That's why Luna said "I can hear

them. She was refering to her mom". I wouldn't be

surprised if Harry in book 6 went back to the veil. My

therie is that the veil is a way to study afterlife.

Sirius is dead in Harry's world, but in Harry's

parents.

Sorry everyone, but i do believe that who fell through the veil is dead. but i do not believe it was sirius. i think i was his brother. for 1 they never found his body, sirius just said that he heard that he had died. 2 sirius face was messy and harrys eyes were watery which would explain not seeing him very well. i think that everyone will play on the idea sirius is dead so that harry does not try to save him again and i think this may teach harry a lesson on the fact that voldy will minipulate anyone in anyway to get what he wants. hopefully harry will wise up to this and it could make harry distance himself from people he loves and cares about i think we will see alot of this in book six. my theory is that harry will try to distance himself, take on voldy on his own lose again and have to come to the conclusion that he does need his friends.

Sirius had a brother.  His name was Regulus Black.  He was killed by the order of Voldemort.  We know this from Sirius' conversation with Harry in OOTP, when the discuss the tapestry in the Black house.

I think that JKR accomplished exactly what she intended with Sirius' sudden death.  People can't believe, won't believe that life can end so suddenly.  Its always hard when good people die young, when brave people die defending others, when people die before they have time to say goodbye.

exactly. i mean, look at how people try to figure out how Sirius could still be alive. people just don't want to accept that life can come into and out of your life so quickly.

personally, i belive that Sirius is gone forever. JK's not one to throw such a huge curveball like that and have it be Sirius' brother that fell through the veil and not Sirius himself. plus, do you really think Sirius would've sat home while Harry went off to the DoM trying to save him? that'd be extremely out of character. just my 2¢ on this.

Just cuz the board has seemed to slow down...which it does from time to time...here's an idea for those people who have the bizarre need to "do something worthwhile to get accepted" to the board...

Pick up a copy of OotP and quote every line from the book that has to do with the mirror that Harry gets from Sirius. Post a message with all of these lines. Then we can all dissect and interpret them.

(Note: I'd do this myself but can't find my OotP)
