SEATTLE (Nov. 21) - Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings: cranberry sauce, stuffing and turkey gravy flavored soda. Yummy?
In the latest food fad to emerge in the United States, Seattle specialty soda maker Jones Soda Co. scored a hit this week with the introduction of a limited batch of Turkey & Gravy-flavored soda.
The tan-colored soda sold out in just three hours after an initial batch was put up for sale on its Web site Friday, a spokeswoman for the company said.
Proceeds from the online sale, where two bottles of Turkey & Gravy soda sold for about $11, were donated to Toys for Tots, a children's charity. Local retailers will start selling the soda from Monday.
Jones Soda said it would be up to local stores to set prices for Turkey & Gravy soda. Other sodas from the company typically cost $1 to $1.50.
Thanksgiving, a U.S. holiday that falls on the fourth Thursday of November, typically features a dinner with turkey, gravy and other condiments.
Turkey & Gravy soda tastes like a Thanksgiving dinner, but contains no meat extracts, Jones Soda said.
This isn't the company's first experiment in exotic carbonation. Fish tacos and ham flavors have also been offered as promotional soda flavors. Jones Soda said it will continue to introduce other unusual soda flavors.
Other flavors offered by Jones Soda include green apple, bubblegum and crushed melon.
Well, I would give it a try if I didn't have to buy it. If it was gross I wouldn't want to waste the buck fifty on it. But yet, I'd try it.
I had a conversation with Sandy over AIM the other night. We were jokeing around about them makeing a turkey, cranberry sauce, and stuffing taco (or burritto). Now, she said that sounded disgusting. But think about it, if the place didn't add a special sauce to it, and left it those ingrediants (I don't know, maybe gravy also) it wouldn't be bad I think. Keep in mind they are not makeing one, we just sort of thought of it ourselves. I mean it wouldn't be bad, just everything you have on your thanksgiving plates all in one bite. It would just have a tortilla around it. And if anyone puts those mixings on a sandwich around this time of year (please don't tell me I'm the only one), then a tortilla wouldn't be much different. Sandy thinks it sounds gross, but I don't see why? ...The soda on the other hand ...Well what can we say about carbonaited turkey? I would try it, but until I do, I'm at a loss of words...

I'd buy it just to say I tasted it, not actually for novelty I guess. But yeah, the soda doesn't sound all that appealing. Although, I must admit, I think I want to try it!

Old School Movie, probably the first book i ever read too.(minus dr sues). I have to agree with Kitcher. Don't knock it till you tried it. I remember when vanilla coke came out in canada, i was like, meh i give it a try. And i love it. I love gravy. So maybe gravy soda will be good too.
