We know Voldi knows a bit of the prophecy but at the end of gof, he said that if Harry doesn't entirely kill him, it was because of one of of his experiences and not because of the phophecy.
That means that if Harry has got power to kill Voldemort, it's not the prophecy which gave this to him but ...
Maybe he inherited it from his parents, Griffindor or another ancestor.
I think we will discover this in the 6 or 7 as well as the power Harry have.

I just forget to add another thing about Harry's relations.
Dumbledore said Petunia was Harry's mother only living relatives so Harry maybe Harry has got relations on his father's side.

I actually think that Dumbledore would Pass up mentioning it to Harry. But, Harry has seen photos of all his family members. In his album and in the mirror of erised. I would like to think that his relatives would try and keep in contact with Harry. This leaves me to believe that all of Harry's "blood" relatives are dead but his Aunt. Also, we have been waiting for 5 books to discover why its Harry vs Voldemort. "THE PROPHECY" I don't see how "Heir's" of anything come into play(unless of course, Voldemort chose Harry because he is the hier of Griffindor, or the fact that his mother is muggleborn, which makes no sence because he was offering to spare her life, when Harry was "remembering" in POA...sooooooo, i think we will have to wait and see.

I think JKR is now avoiding the heir question because so many people have guessed Harry to be the heir of Gryffindor. I am cynical in that I believe JKR has changed her story around to keep away from fan theories, because certain things haven't made too much sense to me in her work.

That, Helen, is my biggest fear about the HP series now. I think that JKR is trying desperately to fool the fans. I thought it was clever when she kept leading us astray about the death in 5, but it's beginning to feel like she's trying to trick us too much and that her original plot is changing.

I guess that one of the most appealing things about the books is (was) the idea that the basic story was set and just needed to be played out over the course of the books. I think that as long as the fans are having fun, JKR should just ignore their 'guesses' at the plot and go on as she had planned originally. As I think I said once a few weeks ago, this fan mania is only going to last until all the books are released. From that point on, its new readers who can read from beginning to end without out all the in-between hype.

I know. I think JKR really needs to accept that there are MANY careful readers out there who are going to pick at her book and discover every clue. There are going to be people with creative minds who can guess the story's direction correctly. When you have millions upon millions reading your books, someone is going to figure out your next move. They're going to share their correct ideas across the internet. It's all part of being a famous writer. There's always going to be someone who knows what is going to happen. So instead of making your story complicated and confusing in order to avoid those theories, just accept that and move on.
