My computer hasn't been able to connect to the internet for about two days(And Before some moron tells me i'm connected right now, i'll mention i'm not using my computer)  When I open IE the status bar says something like c\windows\system32\schok\dllerror.htm(NOTE: NOT EXACTLY LIKE THAT)

When I restart my computer it says something along the lines of:

comp. missing: c\progra~1\progra~1\Progra~2.dll

I'm not sure if it was "program" but it was some computer word, shortened with a ~ at the end.

ah, ouch, you have somehow lost or damaged some crucial .dll files that operate your browser, i suggust reinstalling a new browser. Personally a prefer Netscape, you can enable an automatic pop up killer. Very handy, Netscape is difficult to cut and paste in however(i havn't figured out how to yet...)For now i would try that, if you have acess to a "non"-contaminated computer, you can download the setup file(couple 100ks) and put it on a disk. Insert the disk into your computer, and the setup file will finish downloading netscape, and install it.

I have to ask...is it just your browser or do all your internet apps "not" work?(msging services, kazaa and such...) if msn works, as well as other apps, that do not use those .dlls then your internet is fine, and it is the browser. If you continue having problems, i suggest getting the newest version of IE(6 is out), if that doesn't work, get a virus scanner. And if that doesn't work...time to reload your PC.

It sounds like someone responded to one of those hoax virus e-mails that makes you think you have a virus by making you go look for a special file in your windows directory, and if it's there, to delete it. The threat is a hoax, and that file is crucial to the operations of Windows. Deleting it severely messes with your PC.

As Locke says, try to reinstall IE. If your computer came with a "Restore" disk or the Windows Install disk, you can get it back easily enough. Don't put the disk in yet, but go to Control Panel (if you don't know how to get the Control Panel, DO NOT follow the rest of the instructions - get someone more familiar with a PC) and select Add/Remove Programs. Select the Add/Remove Windows Components. Locate the Internet Explorer option. You might have to UnInstall it in order to ReInstall it. When asked for the disk, put your CD in and finish the procedure.

Good Luck,

Dad-Eye,
