If you don't already know the PoA trailer is the first trailer on The Return of the King. It looks very good. I know we all thought Sirius would look way off. But he looks GREAT. Exactly how some of you may have pictured him and if not still pretty close. At least closer than I thought he would be. And the demontors look awsome. Well, I only saw a hand, but it looked awsome. Like the Nazgul's except without gloves all long fingered and such. Yeah. And it did look very close. And the new Dumbledore(almost said Gandalf there) looks interesting. The rest seems vague in my memory but I remembered that I thought it looked way better than the others. Much more dark not so much happy happy joy joy stuff. But of course I didn't see much of the acting and what I did see I can't remember if I thought it was good or bad. Infact I'm not sure I thought anything at all, you see it went pretty fast and I didn't have time to think much.

Another trailer was "The Butterfly Effect". That looked really cool too.

POA trailer

When I went to ROTK they did not show the POA trailer.  Was it the same one that we have seen on the net?  I did however see the trailer for the Butterfly Effect and it did good rather good, as you say.  Even better was something called Paycheck.  Dumb title, but the plot looked interesting.  Some scientist type guy does a project for the government and then they apparently erase the guys memory.  Somehow he knows they are going to do this and leaves himself an envelope with a number of small meaningless objects that are clues to what he did for the government.  He needs the clues to stop some outcome....

GWP, this trailer has been posted several times, and everyone has said sirius looks awful.

I agree with you though he's not that bad.

Well, he looks okay. Could be better looking. Actually I pictured him looking more like Aragon from the LOTR movies.

And, when I saw LOTR 3 it didn't have the PoA trailer, but that's okay since I already seen it.

The trailer didn't show the acting all that much, but we were able to point out things already from the preview alone that are wrong. Aside from that, it looks okay to be honest. Not HPish, but okay in general. Did that make sence to anyone?

Oh I was pretty sure you guys had seen it already. I mean it is you. I posted to comment on Sirius and other stuff because I had actually no hope in him looking right.

I pictured Sirius kind of like Aragorn but I wouldn't like to see Viggo as Sirius like I used to because well it just doesn't seem to be him, you know? The way I saw him in the trailer I thought was perfect.

Deja Veui(meh dunno how it i spelt). I am keen to see Lotr, unfortunately I don't get to see it till tommarro. Paycheck was a short story written by Phyllip Dick i think....not quite sure of the spelling, but he also wrote the short story for Minority Report. I am confident that Pay Check will redeem Ben Affleck from his string of "crappy" movies lately(Gigli, tho i never watched it, daredevil, changing lanes....)

I can't stand the people they put in for the movies...especially when they're not right for it and just plain bad. Movies mess up my mental pictures if the movie was supposed to be based on a book. I had my own thoughts about every character in those books before those movies came out, and now pretty much all the people in it now are pictured like some of the people in the movie. I hate it.

I saw the PoA trailer when I went to see ROTK. I also saw Paycheck, which I seriously want to see now, and Butterfly Effect. I love the title for that movie. It's perfect. The movie also looks incredible, which surprised me since Ashton Kutcher is in it (one of my least favorite actors). Now I just have to wait for a trailer for Troy, which looks very good (except that Brad Pitt is in it- UGH!).

Anyway, after seeing the trailer for POA, I turned to Mari (sister) and only had one thing to say "I can tell you one movie I'm NOT seeing this summer. God, that looks terrible." We had some HP fans near us who were booing at the trailer and cheered when I said that. They ruined Remus, it looked like Alfonso Cuaron was more interested in making a teen angst movie than a movie based on a book, and Remus Lupin looked ugly as hell. Sirius was ruined (I pictured him also looking closer to Viggo Mortenson or Christian Bale) and Snape looked like he was being turned into a dramatic hero. Dumbledore also looked like a hippie. That's definitely a movie that can't claim $9 from me this summer.

Arn't you going to go see it just to see how much it sucks? I bet you you will, just like everyone else, but who knows.

I dunno about your Brad Pitt thing, I don't like him in a lot of flicks, but in Fight Club, and Interview With A Vampire, he did a good job. I can't picture anyone doing the role better. Oh, and regretfully 12 Monkeys, even tho he was a phyco in it.

Absolutely not. I think if any TRUE fan of the books had some common sense, they'd boycott at least the opening weekend no matter how good the movie was to make a statement to the WB for book 4. This is going off on a tangent, but as it stands now, the WB only wants to make one movie of book 4, which means cutting out almost the entire book. Since they haven't begun book 4 shooting yet, I think if any fan out there actually likes the books and wants it done right, they should boycott the third movie and spoil the opening day weekend grosses, which tells a company what they're doing right or wrong. If word got out to WB that people were not going to spend money on that film that they paid millions of dollars to buy the rights to if the WB wasn't at least going to attempt to shoot it right, they would be forced to second guess what they were doing. So even if I liked the third book trailer, I'd still never see it since I'd only be supporting them royally f*cking up the next film.

And yes, Brad Pitt was excellent in Fight Club and Interview with a Vampire, I'll give you that.

Taking Kitch's words: "Fair Enough". I thought about that before, about boycotting opening weekend. I probably won't go see it within it's first 2 weeks. But I'll go see it. I agree that they are "messing" them up, i think of all those little kids, and parents that will go to see it. I think the "real" fans of the books are a vast "minority" and even if they did, it would only slightly scew the opening weekend. Even with that said, they are making tons of money of HP, even if half the veiwers of the previous movies didn't go. I do believe a message needs be sent to them, but I think the only one they will take into consideration, will involve some guns...

Hey, that sounds like a good idea. I don't care if they get as close to the book as Holes was (which they ultimatly WON'T) I'm not going to supported them messing up #4. And I know better than to expect to much from these movies having seen the other two disasters. I know they are going to mess up this movie I could tell they didn't have much consideration for the book when I saw Draco's hair but I was trying to refrain from complaining. But the reason I thought it would be better was because I had exepect less than what I saw in the trailer. But you can never tell in trailers, they always make everything look good. In short I'm trying to say we SHOULD boycott(at least opening weekend). Spread the word!!!! Even if it doesn't make any difference we can still say we tried.

Yeah. I HATE the excuse "Well, no one will listen" or "all these kids will see it regardless, so it won't make a difference if I see it or not." It WILL make a difference if every true fan actually kept their word. Will millions of parents and kids still see it on opening weekend? Of course. But that shouldn't be an excuse for you to give into Hollywood. If everyone who groaned "it won't make a difference" kept to their stance and boycotted opening weekend anyway despite the fact, the total grosses will be FAR below projected expectations and will make execs turn their head a bit, whether or not it will ultimately change their mind. All I'm asking for is a big enough dent from the true fans boycotting that the WB will at least have a hint that something is wrong and make them question it, even if they don't change it.

Very persuasive, well I'm with you then, I won't go and see it opening weakend. Cause I am a true fan! We need to start a petition.
