Is Flitwick a dwarf or just a really short human? I can't remember it saying anywhere.

Here's all I could find... SS page 133, "Professor Flitwick, the Charms teacher, was a tiny littlt wizard who had to stand on a pile of books to see over his desk."
Why do you ask Kitch? Also, I love Flitwick, no problems or unfairness in his classes, and his students always do well (mark of a fine teacher).

Fanfiction purposes really. Dwarves are about to come into play and I don't know whether or not to use Flitwick as a dwarf, half-dwarf, or a really short guy. I'll just put him as a short guy.
My fic is 'Harry Potter and the Staff Of Slytherin' if anyone cares. It's on fanfiction.net and its about 35,000 words and 150 reviews.

Well in the film, the actor who played Flitwick also played a Gringotts Goblin, so it's understandable.
Cheap directors cutting down expenses.

MadEye's quote from the book really makes it sound like Flitwick is just a tiny human. Probably not so unusual in the magic world to have people 8 feet to 2 feet tall without genetic conditions such as dwarfism. Who knows? Maybe Flitwick's great-great-great-great grandmother was a dwarf.

I agree with the short human theory. JKR would have mentioned that he was a dwarf if he was a dwarf. (And if she had mentioned that he was a dwarf I'm sure it would have been really important later on)

You keep seeing in the books in many ways, how there are all sorts of beings, short, tall, magical, non-magical, werewolf, goblin, giant, etc... JKR point seems to be, over and over, that it doesn't matter what one looks like or what one is, but what one chooses to be (good or evil).

I think that Flitwick probably has some relative who is a dawrf, so he is part dawrf because JK has a lot of characters who are part non-human (ex. fleur, hagrid), so i wouldn't be surprised if he was part dawrf or he could just be really really short!

I doubt it will make a huge difference, but JKR does seem to stress his size. He could be part dwarf or something, but I bet it's a very small percentage.
