Werewolves in my back yeard...Now I've Heard Everything!

I live prety much on a lake and swamp. They call it the Hockomock swamp. The lake is called the Nip. Well people have old stories and myths about this swamp. You know, the usual, big foot, lock ness (how who knows, the swamp's about knee deep...), and even dinosours (yeah, don't ask). Well I went to the web site for the movie Underworld. I was actually looking to see what features the DVD has. On the web site you can go to this page called sightings, bringing up a map of the globe and showing lycan (werewolve) sightings and vampire sightings. Yep, clicked on my area out of curiosety. Apparently my ever so famous swamp has seen a Lycan. Yep, now I've heard everything...

Funny. Lycans were obviously a take on King Lycaon, but that's Greece. Germany is also famous for their werewolf tales. I only get jackalope sightings here, no werewolves. Damn. And last night was the full moon, too. You should have gone werewolf searching.

Wish I knew about it last night, I just read that this morning. But out of boredom I made a fake sighting to add to the list, except I did mine of a vampire instead of a werewolve. Oh well, there is always next full moon.

What the heck is a Jackalope lmao?

It's like a rabbit/deer. It looks like a rabbit except it has deer antlers. It's supposed to be a cross between a pygmy deer and a killer rabbit. I'd stay away!

Made me think of a Jack-o-lantern, carved in a cantolope. I wonder how that would turn out...

Wow! I didn't know people were still doing the Jackalope thing. I can't remember the name of the TV show that did those a lot. Was it "Real People"? I don't know if they invented it or not, but they did a skit about them every couple of weeks.

oh man! Jackalopes are fake? Someone told me once when I was younger that they were real, and I've never really thought about it since then. *hits head for own stupidity*

I've got coyotes in my back yard, but werewolves!  Chris, that IS special.  What do you hang up to ward off a werewolf ?  Like garlic scares off vampires?

Before the swamp is a stretch of woods that actually weeds it's way into a larger area of woods. We have a LOT of wild life needless to say. Well, my parents, well mostly my mom, got way into feeding the wildlife. Started with birds, worked the way to squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, ect. Then one night a skunk and raccoon were eating seed. Then she started feeding everything. For a while she had a red fox that she was hand feeding chicken (I swear the animles eat better then the rest of the familly)! Now we have cyotes, red foxes, gray foxes, wild cats, opossumes, raccoons, skunks, and every other thing imaginable.

That being said, if anything I should start setting traps to catch it because eventually the freshly cooked chicken tossed out once a night may start to draw them in!

They used to have the jackalope on America's Funniest Home Videos, when Bob Saget used to host it. I remember because I was about 5 and it used to freak me out. lol!

We still have the jackalope tales here. Basically, because we're cowboy country, it's the only mythological creature we have. I think the tale is something like when lost on a range, a cowboy can hear the jackalopes singing and that will either save him or kill him...I forget. I'm not well learned in the jackalope lore...better keep to my werewolf and vampire knowledge base.

You're probably thinking of America's Funniest People, Chris. Dave Coulier hosted that with some chick. I remember that show because I didn't like it and never watched it. I'm pretty sure the Jackalope was on America's Funniest Home Videos.

It was the guy who played Joey on Full House, could be him because I don't know his name. But I really think it was that show. Could be wrong though.
