Hey, I guess to make it a legit post I thought of this while rereading CoS. James and Lily were rich right? They had an old house right? Do you think Harry has a House Elf some where out there, just waiting to call him Master?

Interesting question, I am going to go with "no" and here is my reason why:

We are told that "old" wizarding families have house elves. The general consensus is that these families are "pureblood", but who knows. We know Lily is supposedly Muggle born. That is the only probable reason that i can think, that they may not have had one.
