Okay, this may have already been brought up so if it has then I apologise. Since Harry can't duel with Voldy, ( cos their wands are from the same phoenix ) then maybe Harry will just get out a gun and shoot him.
Also, I heard on the radio that JKR has hinted that she may write a book 8. No more Hogwarts! (sob)

Well with so many people in the story still at the school, I'm sure you'de hear a lot of it later on in the 8th book (if one did get written).

I don't think it's that simple about a gun though. I highly doubt it will work. Also, they can duel. They just can hit a spell at the same time. Did that make sense?

That's a funny idea. I can just see Harry and Voldemort dueling.
Voldey: Hahaha, you can't kill me with your petty magic!
Harry: Oh well. (takes out a gun and shoots him)

I don't think there will be an 8th book. Mainly because I don't think Harry will survive the 7th book. And if he would survive, Voldemort would have to die, so what would there be left to happen in book 8?

Oh, I remember that post we had made about the end of book 7... but we talked about Harry dying...
You know, I never thought about the fact that they cant duel... who knows, maybe in the end it will be Neville who duels with Voldy (i know I've been against the Neville theory ever since it came out, but I really cant see any other solution apart from shooting bullets...)...
I havent heard about a possible Book 8, but I wish she would write the prequel, you know, when the Marauders were in school... oh well we'll see...

I agree, a prequel would be good although I'd find it quite depressing knowing that Sirius and James die and Wormtail's a bad guy. They were way cooler than Harry and co!

I can see it now...

scene: battleground, bodies everywhere. Wizards ducking behind ruins of buildings and firing curses from their wands at each other.

Harry, having just fought his way up the bombed up street, tired, beaten, bloody, lifts his gaze from the street to what is waiting for him a hundred yards away: Voldermort. Voldy takes out his wand and twirls and brandishes it like a scimitar.
Harry, not having the strength for one more battle, reaches into his robe, pulls out a gun and BLAMM!! Voldy falls backwards, dead.

Wow.... seems so vivid.... where have I seen that before? At least it's not Star Wars (but by the same author, does that count?)

There wont be an 8th book.

Firstly I think JKR has had enough pressure put on her with the 7 she already plans to write.
Secondly, whats the point in dragging out the Series?
Too much of something is certainly NOT a good thing!

JKR did say tho - in that interview posted not too long ago (with all the retarded kiddy questions!) that there definitely wouldnt be a prequel, that all the info we need will be supplied in the remaining books! so unless there's a "life after Hogwarts" edition, I doubt we'll see an 8th book.

I'm actually hoping that there isnt. I think It would spoil the series. (but thats my opinion).

I think a prequel would be fun though...think Star Wars episode 1. We all know that Anakin becomes Darth Vader, but does it ruin the excitement?

(Not comparing HP to SW though...don't worry)

Since there won't be a prequel...I hope we see some more pensieve scenes that are flashbacks to the days of the marauders then, because that was one of my fav scenes ever in book 5.

IN regards to Star Wars - Lucas always planned for the epic story to have 9 different segments.
Eps 4,5,6 in 1970's... Then eps 1,2,3 when the graphics got better (or something like that)

Mind you - lucasarts is like the grand-daddy of special effcts companies. I'm pretty sure he started the whole thing.

Side note: anyone seen that film clip of that dog 'conan' (i'm not 100% sure) interviewing all the nerds waiting in line for the new star wars film. I really did pee my pants - damn hilarious.

Honestly, why would she write a book eight? Wouldn't that give away what would happen to Harry? She said that there was going to be seven books. I can see there being a prologue at the end of book seven but not a whole nother book. I hope I'm not sounding too snotty about this.

My memory must be failing me.  I thought she said in an interview that there would be no book 8.  I had understood that she intended an epilogue at the end of book 7 which would explain what became of the surviving characters.

As for Harry and Voldy being unable to duel, that is true as it currently stands.  However, we know that wands can become lost and/or broken.  What if Harry needed a new wand?

Maybe Voldemort would get a different wand. He sees himself as the highest of all maybe he doesn't agree with the "wand chooses the wizard" and believes he can chose the wand and would be powerful regardless. But I think their wand connection may have something to do with the end... why else would Rowling give it a name if she didn't plan to bring it up again? OK there's lots of reasons but that's all I can come up with.

Yes Sandy, she did plainly say "there will be seven books." JKR is an intelligant woman, I'm sure she didn't lose track or accidently count wrong. When she says seven, she means seven.

So no, your memory isn't failing

She did say she may write another book for charity (like Fantastic Beasts and Quiddich). Personally, I am hoping for Hogwarts: A History.

Jkr under pressure

Jkr is doing 7 books, so she says. She's been under a lot of pressure to finish them. But what if she is planning a book 8? And she didn't tell the public. She could take as long as she wanted, and have absoloutely no pressure at all.

I don't think she should make a book 8. You can do too much to a good thing. For instance if book 7 has an awesomely incredible ending and then she makes a book 8 with a crappy ending the series will end badly. Like Star Wars. The original trilogy was awesome but now the prequels arent doing that good.

i heard somewhere that Harry wouldn't need a wand to perform magic. I know it sounds kinda wierd but he didn't have a problem letting that snake go in the first book and inflating Aunt Marge without a wand.
