I was thinking...remember the boggart in the wardrobe in the POA? We know why Lupin didn't let Harry have a go, but why didn't he let Hermione?

She already answered his questions. Plus, if he knew enough about Hermione, he probably realized that her boggart would be highly embarrassing to her, such as a failing exam grade as Ron suggested. Other people had real fears that other people would understand. I think Lupin was concerned for her mental well-being since he realized that her fears would probably expose her to even more ridicule.
