I'm sure most of you already know, but for those of you who dont, on JKrowling.com she says that she has been working on ch 1 of book 6 for the past 6 years, and that she wanted to put it as the first chapter of the fourth and fifth books, but it didnt work. Now its time to speculate, and place your bets on what this first chapter is about.
I'll go for the scene where Voldemort kills Harry parents. FOr the first time, we see the whole Godrics hollow scene, as it happens. I'm not really using any logic with this one, its just what I want basically... and it could be what it is.
fred/george: well we're off to beat some bludgers
harry: Your going to go play quidditch?
fred/george: ...no

Well I'd like to see Petunia talk to Harry about his mother and father. I think JKR was hinting that it was going to come with the whole dementor thing. I would like to see the whole Lily and James sceane but I don't think that will be revealed until the 7th book.

Both ideas are appealing. Of course the Godric hollow scene would be fabulous. It also makes sense since it would be a scene that Harry can't tell us. She does those at the beginning of the book, when she does them.

Yeah - that's definately what i'd like to see. It would answer alot of pending questions we've been wondering since book1, and give us much more detail for the death of the Potters. And it does make sense that it could have been in any of the other books too.

Thats what I'm hoping for. One thing that could ruin it is JK Rowling said it was going to be the first chapter of book 1. Well than Harry can't just jump to the Dursleys' in chapter 2 because it wouldn't make sense. Maybe that's the reason she decided not to use it. Otherwise I'm almost positive that its the Godrics Hollow scene.

Yes he can. It's been done before in GoF for example, it's just almost like a prologue not from harry's perspective - and not neccesarily in real time. In this case it would just be a look at what happened in the past, then we'd cross to real time with harry.

I have a feeling you're right. She did say that she wanted to tell you what the story was about but not give too much away in the process. Now that we've all read 1-5 and gathered up the info left in the 1st chapters of those, I'm sure she's going to write about what Lily and James were up to, Sirius, Voldemort and Peter, and possibly Lupin. I think that Hermione's dad was actually the one who found harry's parents too. Because on her site, she did say that she was going to write that Hermione's father saw a huge explosion on an island where Lily, James and Harry were supposed to be hiding out and went to see what it was. He found Lily and James dead. Wooo, I love being a nerd!

I believe that Rowling said she "considered" having Hermione's father find the Potters, but then abandoned the idea. However, I am going to go back to the business where Hagrid talks about how Sirius would have dumped Harry out over the ocean (the night that Lily and James were killed). He makes that comment in POA when everyone thinks Sirius is a bad guy. Then in SS Hagrid talks about Harry falling asleep as they are flying over Bristol. It gives more credance to the "island" idea doesn't it?
