Hi Joe. Welcome to the board, please visit the rules. Before anyone tears this guy a new arsehole - remember he's new and doesn't know. Perhaps we need to add a "Common Questions and answers that will piss everyone off" list to the rules?
Andyway - Sirius is dead. Not only is he dead, but JKR said he is dead and will never come back. Same with Lily and James. It sucks - we all hate the reality of Sirius dying and many people have revived him via fanfiction - but that's the only way you'll get it.

For future reference, there is already a messasge discussing this issue called "do you think we've seen the last of Sirius" that is like 5 under yours. We just normally would have added our opinions to that message instead of making a new one, otherwise it will push all the rest of the messages down and it is just easier to add on to the old currently existing message.

"You too are about to learn what happens to wrongdoing at my school."
Filch cracked his whip threatingly.
"You know what? said Fred. "I dont think we are. George, I think we've outgrown
full-time education."
"Yeah, I've been feeling that way myself," said George lightly.
"Time to test our talents in the real world, d'you reckon?" asked Fred.
"Definitely," said George.
And before Umbridge could say a word, they raised their wands and said together,
"Accio Brooms!"...
"Give her hell from us, Peeves!"
"I didn't know you could read."

I had a very similar post that I put up back in December or something saying the same thing! and about a BIZZILION ppl yelled at me, but I agree with you, the spell that hit him was RED not GREEN like the killing curse, and all it said was he fell through the VEIL!! How do we know that has ANYTHING to do with dying! Its a slim chance that he isn't dead, but slim doesn't mean not at all!

When Luna was talking to Harry at the end of the fifth book she was saying that she was looking for things that had gone missing. She then says to Harry that you always find what is lost. This is a strange thing to say unless it is foreshadowing that he will find Sirius again. On the other hand Luna is a strange girl. Hmmmm.

Avada Kedavra isn't the only fatal curse. Luna's mother was killed by an experimental charm, wasn't she? I think Azada is the only one that there is no stopping - but other curses and even some charms would kill as well.
And there still isn't any hope there! She's said the person who dies in the fifth book is "dead and will not come back"! I don't see why people are having such a hard time understanding this.

Narc, I think its just that they're clinging to some sliver of hope that JKR might change her mind. It wont happen and people really do need to accept it and move on.

It's funny to watch, though. People actually did go through the 5 stages of grieving when Sirius died in the books...and most are stuck on the denial stage. Yep, he's dead. The only thing that really gets me about it is that JKR will contradict herself in interviews over the reason. If you killed him, you killed him! Be honest about the motives, don't keep changing them. He's your character. Do whatever the hell you want, but be aware that your fans are listening and will catch you up if you keep changing your story on why you did what you did.
If she killed Sirius because he was an inconvience, say it. At least it's an honest explanation.

I'm not saying that he is alive-he is gone and hes not coming back. But I hope JKR explains the whole veil thing-it makes it sound like the veil leads to a sort of underworld or limbo type place that you arent really dead or alive, but just waiting. Anyway, thats what I got from it. Or mabye the veil is where people go when they die and through the veil is the way to the land of the dead or something. Confusing stuff.
I am positive that Sirius won't come back alive and its really sad cause we all loved Sirius and we all need to move on. tear
