Jeez, HP3 was a little disappointing if you ask me. The movie it self, I found was good, but they cut out sooo much, including the origins of the names "Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs", and it seemed very rushed. Everything moved too quickly and I think if you had only seen movies 1 and 2 and had not read the books you wouldn't have had a clue as to what was going on.

That being said, the acting was better, I found, and I liked the time turner scene very much.

That being said, I think it's time to fire Alphonso Cuaron.

yea, I sort of agree. It did seem very rushed and hard to understand without having read the book.

However I enjoyed it mnuch more than the first two. I thought Cuaron did a fairly good job. Radcliffe got better, but still brought about a healthy amount of scenes that made me want to throw things at the screen.

I was extremely dissapointed at how short the shrieking shack part was. Its' so pivotal, but they dont inclued any of the history of the mauraders, or how Sirius knew about scabbers, or Sirius supposedly blowing up a whole street. Nont of that was in there, and you never find out that who the mauraders were. That was the most dissapointing.

However the time travel aprt was done very well. I know we all hated Lupin to begin with, but after seeing it, I can sort of see Lupin in the guy they cast, hes a good actor.

as a movie, I'd give it 8 out of 10
as an adaptation of the book, I'd give it 6 out of 10, because they did get in most of the essential stuff, although it all seemed drastically abbreviated.

fred/george: well we're off to beat some bludgers
harry: Your going to go play quidditch?
fred/george: ...no

I believe it's one of those movies that's like "don't be an idiot and NOT read the book" like my stupid friends are. Honestly, they were oggling more over Oliver Wood and Draco Malfoy in first two instead of the movie. They never read the books and I doubt they ever will. It's a marketing scam!!!! shakes fist angrily

And as for not explaining the Marauders significance, they didn't explain it right out there in the open. You kinda had to think about it. I thought it was and "Oh YEAH!" after Lupin said "Mischief Managed." The explanation may also be a cliffhanger for the next movie. You never know.

I agree that the movie was rushed at a lot of the parts, but unless you wanted to sit through an 8 hour movie, whatever. They only had so much time and I'm sure Cuaron was like "okay we need this this this and this in the movie and we have a 2 1/2 hour time limit: this is what we're doing..." and knew he needed it so he threw it in. At least he wasn't like Columbus and completely left crap out. Cuaron, DID leave out the Hogsmeade permission slip part at the end.... dang..... I guess we'll see it in the next movie.

and no, he wasn't busy sticking in his culture. Unless you knew exactly what to look for in this movie that's even remotely hispanic, then you won;t notice anything. AFter I asked my family if they saw anything Mexican/Hispanic/Spanish or whatever, their exact words were "What?" I only noticed the statues around the fountain and it wasn't anything special. I thought the fountain was pretty, none the less.

I LOVED the soundtrack. One big pat on the back for Mr. John Williams. I love the music and wasn't the same stuff I listen to to try and go to sleep to. It had stuff to make you jump and jazz and I just thought it rocked. I went right after the movie to get the soundtrack.

We had more of the other people and the kids talking in this movie. You even hear more from other nameless people and they also seemed to cast Parvati Patil, if you noticed. ??? I dunno.

There really wasn't a lot of teen angst. Teen angst is heartbreaking and lovey-dovey crap and stuff. It seemed more focused on the kids in this one, but there really wasn't any of that.

I missed a lot of Quidditch, but none of the movies had a lot of Quidditch. Good thing in the 5th one there's only one scene of Quidditch, pretty much.

See, I guess I basically had my opinions on all the stupid rumors. I pretty much put them down, unless someone can point something I missed out.

Overall, I give the movie a 9 out of 10 and that extra nine goes to the really bad fake crying done by Harry. That was REALLY bad acting. It also goes to the few lack of story things that most people are being mad about. Yes they missed stuff, but I'm just saying that its for another movie.

I think the overly dramatic scene where Harry flies on Buckbeak should have been cut or at least shortened to make room for a few explanations. Honestly, if I hadn't read the book, I would've been all "WTF??" when I came out of the movie theater. They didn't explain anything about the marauders, why Sirius and Peter were animagi (it wasn't even mentioned that James was an animagus), the whole secret keeper thing, how Sirius found out about Peter, how he fled from Azkaban and got into Hogwarts... In short, the entire background and history was missing. And it really did seem as if the only plot of the movie was: "Sirius is out to get Harry." And the big surprise: Sirius is innocent and Peter is evil (he is also Ron's rat). The plot in the book is so full of twists but in the movie it seemed so simple. Argh! It makes me mad.
