OK, in one of my classes we were deeply studying sex exploitation in media for a few months and it is amazing how much I saw this in POA. I just got home from seeing it for the second time -- eep, I know. My little brother wanted to see it and my mom basically paid me to take him so she could rest.

Anyway, yeah. It's almost embarresing how much Emma is exploited. It's subtle but noticeable, as contradicting as that is. The positioning, especially. How she's always held or positioned with one of the guys protecting her. Most noticeable is when Sirius is riding behind her on Buckbeak and then helped her down/held her hand. Then I kind of questioned other things and it's awful. They kept to the story by making her a stronger/braver female than the average, but then Alfonso (I'm guessing) did the positioning.

Has anyone seen Y Tu Mama Tambien? One girl, two guys, lots of, um, "exploring." It seems as if he took some of that material and tried to incorperate it into the teens of Harry Potter. I didn't mind Ron/Hermione flirting but then the positioning with Harry/Hermione was too much. One or the other, this isn't the time or place for both.

But somebody tell me they've noticed this too and I'm not going crazy...

You're going crazy.

Actually, I did notice it. She always has to be closer to a guy in a way that isn't too revealing for the little kids, but it just subtle enough to be flirty and give the director his little edge.

So, no, you're not going crazy, you were to begin with. (:

Sorry this is a bit off topic. But when you mentioned the postioning on Buckbeak I thought of this. You see the first time I saw the movie I went with the most hillarious person. Apart from sincerly jumping at the most unscary moments and laughing most uncontrollably, she said some things that were so pointless it was hillarious. When we saw the scene with Hermione, Harry, and Sirius on Buckbeak, she said for no reason at all, "Harry is on the back, is that really appropriate?". It may not seem funny now, but you had to be there.

No offence GwP but if you were in the movie theatre, sitting next to me, I'd have thrown something at you... it irks me, the people who are loud during movies....

Other than that, I cant comment on the positioning or anything as I havent seen it, but hear very much so, that Cuaron had a major Jones for Emma, so its only logical that the idiot would have done that to her. its a wonder he didnt have her trying her first cigarette hiding behind trees in the Dark Forest, or maybe a little more than just hand holding with the boys...... pfffft... idiot!
