I was re-reading the series last night for the third time and a thought dawned on me that I pray is not the truth and I was just wondering what everyone else thought about it. Does it not seem possible to everyone else that Harry could just wake up at the end of the 7th book and all of this has been a dream? It seems like a way to wrap everything up. I think this would be the biggest disappointment but just wondering if anyone else thinks its possible.

We've discussed this here before and decided that it would be an extreamly weak way to end the series. Dream endings don't work well, EXCEPT for the series finale of Newhart. Man, that was awsome! But other than that, dream endings just don't work.

That would suck. LAST PAGE: "Ahhhh!!!!" Harry sat up straight in bed. There he was, sitting in the dark of his broom cupboard. He relised his whole life had been a dream. He had no friends, and his only family hated him. Scar.
That better not be the end or I might just die. JKR's books would kinda have been for nothing.
Proof that that isn't gonna happen...JKR said that the last chapter of the book is gonna be like and epiloge, telling what all the characters did after the books. If Harry woke up and having that all be a dream then there would only be one character to write about what happened, and frankly, why would I care what some skinny little boy did. I mean, we wouldn't even know the dude.

Filch cracked his whip threatingly.
"You know what? said Fred. "I dont think we are. George, I think we've outgrown

"Yeah, I've been feeling that way myself," said George lightly.
"Time to test our talents in the real world, d'you reckon?" asked Fred.
"Definitely," said George.
And before Umbridge could say a word, they raised their wands and said together,
"Accio Brooms!"...

Yeah I really hope that the dream ending is not what is coming it would feel like a giant waste of a great series of books. I am hoping that book 7 isn't the end I would like to see JKR continue with stories about Ron, Harry and Hermoine after Hogwarts but I would doubt that unless she just gets bored with the series being over.

J.K. Rowling said that she is not going to write any more Harry Potter books after book 7. She said that if she did write a book 8, it would be an encyclopedia of the world of Hogwarts.
