Voldemort says that Barty Crouch Jr is his faithful servent at Hogwarts but does he know that Crouch swore that he had nothing to do with Voldemort at his court hearing which Harry saw in the Pensive?

Liz. Just because you are faithful doesn't mean you can't try to save your skin from the Dementors, etc!

I disagree, Tryfan...I'd say the more loyal people were like Bellatrix...those swearing loyalty to Voldemort even if it means imprisonment...I wouldn't be surprised if Crouch Jr. WASN'T who Voldemort was talking about. Which makes me go back to my belief that Snape is bad...hmmm...

Well, Barty Crouch Jr, didnt exactly renounce his death eater status during his trial. All he said was he had nothing to do with the Longbottoms, and didnt even know about it.

Another thing that struck me as being interesting was that Voldemort kept saying "one more death and the path to Harry Potter is clear" or something like that at the same time he was talking about his faithful servant. Who is the one more death that needs to happen? I don't remember anyone dying in GOF that would further impediment Voldemort getting Harry by the time he had arrived at the graveyard, and quite a few people did die in that book too.

I think that when he said the path to Harry Potter is clear he was talking about the safety his mom had on Harry. If the baby Voldemort died when Wormtail put it in the cauldron then that would be part of the spell that got Voldemort back to a human form and the protective shield away from Harry.

i know what nick's saying SOMEWHAT...

He's saying that the death perviously mentioned turned out to be the death of Voldemort's form before he was brought back...when he was the disgusting blob baby. When Peter put him in the cauldron, Nick is saying, the body voldemort used for "function" ceased to live, therefore being the death we're talking about. I have no clue what this has to do with harry's protection...it's still there...

Now what i believe, but it's what i think nick is trying to say.

Thank you Adrienne for explaining it a little better. The protection isn't there anymore because Voldemort touched Harry's face without being harmed. When Voldemort got Harry's blood in his body the protection was gone. Remember Harry's talk with Dumbledore "He said my blood would make him stronger than if he'd used someone else's", Harry told Dumbledore. "He said the protection my- my mother left in me- he'd have it too. And he was right- he could touch me with hurting himself, he touched my face."

Why would Voldemort need to take away the protection Harry had from his mother if Harry was killed like Voldemort had planned?

What would it matter if he could touch Harry's face or not?

He'd probably be able to actually kill Harry that way. Maybe he feared that otherwise the curse would rebound again?

The reason the killing curse didn't work when Harry was a baby was because the protection Harry's mom had on him and thats also why Professor Quirrell couldn't touch Harry first year. Dumbledore said that the protection was in his skin. The theory is probably wrong but it was the only thing that made sense to me.
