To all you Americans out there. What is the largest bill?

Hi everyone. Wow I haven't been on here in a long time. And my first returning post isn't about HP.

Someone brought up in my Social Studies class that someome tried to cash a $200 bill at McDonalds, and they got change back for it! I think it had Bush's face on it too. I don't remember how, but they got busted for it. (For people out there who don't use American money, there is no such thing as a $200 bill.)

We have an extra credit opportunity. What is the largest bill ever made? Does anyone know? I think it is a $1000, but I'm not sure.

A Google search brought about this result:

$1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100. The purpose of the United States currency system is to serve the needs of the public and these denominations meet that goal. Our present currency in circulation satisfies the public at large, and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) has no plans to change the denominations in use today.

What was the largest currency denomination ever produced?

The largest denomination of currency ever printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) was the $100,000 Series 1934 Gold Certificate featuring the portrait of President Wilson. These notes were printed from December 18, 1934 through January 9, 1935 and were issued by the Treasurer of the United States to Federal Reserve Banks only against an equal amount of gold bullion held by the Treasury Department. The notes were used only for official transactions between Federal Reserve Banks and were not circulated among the general public.

So, I suppose from that there NEVER was a $200 bill.

I think they had a 1000 dollar bill once a long time ago. It only lasted for a bit (I think a few months or a year) because people realized there wasnt enough change for it in most places. Is there seriously a dollar bill with George W Bush's face on it? I HATE THAT "PRESIDENT". I am so ashamed to be in a country with him as a leader. I hope Kerry kicks Bush's ass.

I seriously hope Bush kicks Kerry's ass. Not being a american(im canadian) i say it because it will indeed effect me.

Kerry is not what America, or North America needs at the moment. He is a politically correct fence sitter. Someone who will bow to everyone so long as no one apposes the person he is bowing to. Bush on the other hand makes decisions. He doesn't sit back and wait for the next President to do that. In 50 years how will historians look back on the actions of the presidents of the USA for the 20th century? Sure Bush is a little slow, and has a stunted vocabulary, and he inherited the presidency...but that doesn't mean he is a competent person who can see what the avg american wants.

Many are pissed about the war in Iraq...I think it was a good idea. Iran might have been a better choice but the whole campaigns plan was to kill the terrorist activities in the middle eastern region, and subdue the military activities along with it. Sure you may have had relatives die in that campaign but you seriously have to realize that it was the most sucessful(and here i say it again) campaign in military history.

Lets face it the world is a better place with Sadam gone, and with Iraq under serious discipline the stronger countries around it are taking the lesson shown and applying it.

Yeah Bush almost died from a pretzel...everyone has accidents. Sure he is not Albert Einstien, but he is an american, he is allowed to drink, play golf(regardless of what micheal more says...that dude is an idiot).

So if you want an america, or north america that is going to develop over the next 4 years...you will realize that Kerry is not that choice. I would post all about why kerry is wrong in more detail but I don't have time, expect that statement later in this thread.

There isn't a bill with Bush's face on it. Meaning the bill someone tried to break at McDonald's was counterfeit. But the Employee gave them change for it becasue they didn't know it was a fake bill.

That's one stupid employee then. One I would not ever want working for me. $50 and higher are not accepted at most food chains like that for good reason! LOL I said most, not all.

Strong hint: If you buy a Big Mac Meal for $5 and someone hands you a $50 bill [let alone anything larger!] call your supervisor. If a retail business does NOT have a counterfeit bill detector, the management needs their heads read!

Locke you are such an idiot. I too feel embarrassed for the first time in my 29 years to be an American. All because of George W. Bush. He is an idiot of the highest order just like you. Which is probably why you like him.
All my life I have never felt afraid of anything because I am am American. The last four years I have never felt more UNSAFE because I am an American. He is a bumbling idiot. What I find most depressing is that I don't really like Kerry too much either. But, I will vote for him because I see him as a lesser of two evils.

Sev, while you're entitled to your own political opinion, i think you might have been a little harsh on Locke this time. Your verbal bashing was pretty rude.

Personally, i agree with Locke on this one...i love president Bush. I love how he handled 9/11 too. I love how he came down from his position of authority to cry with the people. He certainly didn't hold it all in, and use his authority to make himself out to be better than everyone else...no...he reinstated that feeling of unity with america...he cried with us all...not as a president...but as an american...and i love that.

I don't agree with some of his decisions, but i do believe that he's what our country needs for these next four years. I have confidence in him and his decisions...

I don't like Kerry and i probably never will. He seems fake to me, has views that don't match with mine, and his promises seem forced and fake to me. He, i have no doubt, is hiding a lot from the American people, and i don't trust him.

It's ok to have different political views, but when you criticize other peoples' views, try to understand that theres no such thing as a wrong opinion...opinions are opinions.

See, that's what i meant...i wasn't trying to be insulting. You're being closeminded, and it's pretty frustrating. By tuning out everyone's opinion but your own, you're showing yourself to be pretty arrogant.

I'll repeat myself cuz you obviously didn't seem to get it the first time...there's no such thing as a wrong opinion. Just because someone has a different opinion on something than you do, it doesn't mean they're dumb. It means they're an individualist.

Get your head out of the clouds and realize that you're no better than i am.

I am definatly a Bush supporter. Sev you said that this is the first time in your life that you were afraid well what makes you think that the terrorists would just stop after 9-11. If we hadnt gone into Iraq do you really think that they would just say, "Ok America lets get along now." Personally, I highly doubt that. Saddam was a horrible person and as Locke said the world, including some of his own citizens, is a lot safer place without him in control of Iraq. He had weapons of mass distruction and their were previous attacks on America by people driving air planes into other objects. Why don't comprehend other people's arguments instead of verbally attacking the other person or acting like an immature little brat that closes their ears so that they don'nt have to listen .

What was that? Did I just hear something? It sounded a lot like "Blah...Blah...Blah!" Was that you Adrienne?

You are putting words into my mouth and accusing me of being closeminded and arrogant. First of all, my opinions on a person are based on their actions. If you have been around for a significant amount of time, you will know that Locke had been making trouble and being a pest for some time now. I call him an idiot because he acts like one. Not because I dismiss his opinions. I NEVER said anything about anyone's opinions being "wrong." You assumed you knew what you are talking about. Second, if you knew some of the things Locke has said around here you would be calling him closeminded and arrogant, not me. You don't even know me to call me those things. If you are basing your opinion of me off of one post, then you are the closeminded person. Many of us have given Locke more than one chance to proove himself around here and as always, he reverts back to his old tendancies. Prooving that he is an idiot. Please do not lecture me like I am a child who needs to be taught that there are more ideals in this world than my own. I am fully aware of that. If you really knew me you would know that I am very openminded, and that because I am human I can be arrogant at times, just like all humans.

ok, let me clear something up for you Nick, because obvously, you don't get it. "Saddam was a horrible person and as Locke said the world, including some of his own citizens, is a lot safer place without him in control of Iraq. He had weapons of mass distruction and their were previous attacks on America by people driving air planes into other objects" First of all, the reason we went to war with Iraq was because of WMD. "President" Bush said to all of the UN that there were definately WMD in Iraq. We went to war. Americans died, innocent Iraqies died, and, to date, we have found no WMD. Now, I don't know about you, but I don't want a president that lies in front of the UN for something as serious as going into an effing war! Secondly, the thing about driving airplanes into other object, I have to say that instead of Sadaam being responsible for 9/11, it was Al Quaeda, more specifically, Osama Bin Laden. So, Osama Bin Laden kills 3000 Americans, and we go to war with Sadaam Hussein for false reasons. And in case you are wondering why the word President was in quotation marks, I did that because it was actually Al Gore who got the most votes by the American public. Thanks to the supreme court, Bush is in office instead of Gore. Ok, now it's time for me to step off of my soap box.

To begin with, the driving planes into objects was not about 9-11 this happened 8 years ago right before the Olymipics in Atlanta. I posted about this awhile ago and if you want to hear more about it just post and I'll write about it again. Also, we did find weapons of mass distruction like long range skuds, missiles, tens of thousands of liters of chemical weapons. He used the some of the skuds and the missiles that he wasn't supposed to have on the US when we invaded Iraq. Also, the weapons factories that the UN closed down were started up again and new ones were built when he forced the UN inspectors out of Iraq. He openly supported Al-Quida, he attacked our allies and he payed people to do attacks and or threatened to harm their family or friends if the person refuesed.

For people who dont believe Bush in an idiot see Farenheit 9/11. I know people say that its fake and Michael Moore made it up but Michael Moore is my hero. I love how he's the underdog fighting Bush and his minions. My parents however think Bush is a good guy and we've argued for a while about whether Bush is a good guy or not. I decided to go to Bush supporters websites just to read the other side of the story. Ive been to about 15 Bush websites and all they say is that John Kerry never went to Vietnam. Who cares??? The big deal is not whether Kerry went to Vietnam its about the issues. I admit Kerry is an *******. But Bush is mean and a liar. He went to war and lied about it and denies that he was wrong. If anyone needs more proof go to www.michaelmoore.com Sorry its not underlined but Im not sure how to do that.

I think that Kerry is just a big "Egghead."

It takes a lot to show how much a President cares for his country especially when there is something such as a war going on. It takes a lot of courage and authority. Bush has had to make a lot of very difficult decisions, and some of you say he is mean or cuel. If you think he is mean and cruel think about tyrants such as Hitler. Things could have been a lot worse if he had done things differently. Everyone makes mistakes, even the President. And I think that any President who has to deal with something like war, deserves to have 4 more years.

This is my opinon, everyone's is different. A democracy is when the people rule, and choose their leader. Everyone can vote for who they want.

Do not believe everything that you see in the propoganda Farenheit 9-11 because Micheal Moore manipulated a lot of those scenes in that movie to make President Bush look like an idiot. If you have seen Farenheit 9-11 then I think that it is only fair to look at an issue from both sides and I hope you go see Micheal Moore Hates America when it comes out.

A few statements I’d like to address:

“He is an idiot of the highest order just like you. Which is probably why you like him”-sev.

I think the general thing that some people are getting at here is it not me your bashing, its everyone who agrees with bush, because obviously only an idiot would like another idiot right?

“don't know about you, but I don't want a president that lies in front of the UN for something as serious as going into an effing war!”-Ryan

You are seriously naive if you believe that it was Bush was totally at fault for that. If so you may as well blame 9/11 on Bush too…the supposed information he is given by the FBI and the CIA, and his counselors and office obviously isn’t proficient enough if 2 major events like this can slip through their hands. I don’t give a **** if they had WMD or not, straight up I can sleep better at night with that idiot gone…and end to a means was accomplished either way you look at it. Think of it this way…America is a giant in terms of military power. So, instead of going after the big brother(IRAN, the country with actual WMD), you go beat up his little brother instead. Thus setting an example to the big brother…the big brother humbles himself, to the point were they know that they can’t get away with everything…now think, if USA had gone after Iran, do you think less American soldiers would be dead? So USA attacks Iran, the big boss…and everyone rally’s to support him. Lets see how well you sleep then.

I was not mixing the actions of Sadam and 9/11 I am simply stating that violence is violence no matter how you look at it…why not put an end to it?

“To begin with, the driving planes into objects was not about 9-11 this happened 8 years ago right before the Olymipics in Atlanta.”-Nick

Actually it was much before that try WWII and kamikaze pilots. And thanks for that last post, very well said.

“I know people say that its fake and Michael Moore made it up but Michael Moore is my hero.”-smedsy

You can’t actually believe all of that bull****. MM is a completely biased mofo that even said himself that his film was brutally critical with criticism. When you take all the bad things that you have done in your life, and pack them into a film, I’m sure everyone will hate you too. Its MMs opinion that the president can’t have a life. Is that fair? Bush is a mean liar? Well that’s politics, and obviously your parents have figured them out. The simple fact is, is that Bush said he would make the terrorists pay for what they did, and those who support terrorists, I think he has done a good job on that promise so far.

Now back to the bitch that wants to fight:

Where the hell did that come from? I’ve been here longer then you Sev, and just because I don’t kiss ass like you, doesn’t mean I’m not intelligent. I’ve never attacked you, and despite what anyone believes I have been compliant with the deleting and such, I have not hassled the mods at all since I was banned, ask Narc. You are very narrow-minded if you believe that I stir up ****, I simply state my opinions on w/e subject that comes up, sometimes they aren’t acceptable in a few peoples eye’s.(Or a lot of people’s eyes). The simple fact is that I have never changed. I’ve always been this way, it’s just at those other times the mods were more tolerant and certain subjects were not current. As for my beginnings here everyone knows I was an anoybie, I grew out of that after the first banning.(which was over a year ago).

And Narc, please keep in mind that I didn’t start this, and I will continue with it no further.

Neither did i say you were stupid for liking bush...but that's what you said about Locke. He was stupid for liking bush, and because i like bush, i took it that you're calling me stupid.

I know you and Locke have beef, but you're taking it too far. You're so desperate for a chance to insult him that you jump at every oppritunity, not thinking about what you're saying. I don't care that you have beef...frankly this whole fighting thing is dumb. If i've learned anything in my life its that you need to let things go. And don't tell me i know nothing...i've been her longer than you have....WAY LONGER than you have. Locke hasn't started this fight, you did. And it's your job to stop using this as an excuse to insult him on his views...saying because he thinks a certain way, he's dumb. Because i happen to think that way, along with many others, who are NOT dumb. So before you go into a rant about how much you hate Locke, realize what you're saying.

I'm not involving myself in this arguement, basically because I know very little about politics. All I can say is that as a Canadian, I don't feel I have any right to say who would be a suitable leader for a country that I don't live in. Since it affects them, it's their choice, there's no point in getting mad about it. No matter who wins the election, he's going to be a crooked bastard either way. Give the nicest man in the world political powers - he becomes greedy and corrupt.

And all the candidates are better than the crap we have running our country. Hell, Cretien couldn't even pronounce Canada.

Holy Sh!t!! A fight with Locke and it wasnt with me! lol
Im sorry Sev, I cant jump in on this one either because I have no idea about the politics of the USA!! I just know what I see on the world news on tv!

I really want to shut my mouth here, but I cant help it. On one point I do agree with Locke in that this election will not only affect the USA. It affects Australia too, in that we're currently in alliance with the US and have agreements going with them, so this election (however little I know about it) will affect me in some ways.

Adrienne, Sev never said anything about you directly. She took her stab at Locke and his attitude. You took it rather personally, so I think you should cool down a little bit. You're preaching about how everyone is allowed to have their opinion - Let Sev have hers!

I agree that it will impact other people aside from Americans, but it affects them most and overall - they pay the taxes, we don't. There will never be a perfect president. What I don't understand is why people so often attack others for who they vote for. My brother's wife gave us all the silent treatment for voting NDP - but they were the ONLY party wanting to improve health care. The rest are for privatization and two tier systems. I don't necessarily agree on many of their other agendas, but health care is the biggest issue to us.

Did you get a bumper sticker that said "Don't blame me I voted NDP"? I am of mixed feelings. The health system doesn't work, and it needs to be changed. Jack Layton came off as an "un-realist" to me. His idea was that everything could be fixed, so I knew he was feeding me a line.

I Do think that a private sector needs to be created if the government doesn't want to put more funding into health care. The health care is made for the poor, the people on welfare, bums on the street. The problem is, is that Sally, a waitress at a bar(and this is not a bad thing)...is in a lineup for a hip replacement, while Jim Bob - a CEO - is also in that lineup. And they both have to wait 1 year in that lineup. I would agree that if Jim Bob wanted to fork up the cash by going to the USA and paying for the operation, rather then sit on a waiting list, sounds reasonable...so why should all these higher class citizens have to go to the USA to get immediate treatment? If that could work out, then a portion of that waiting list could be elminiated faster, and we could keep more doctors in Canada, while also boosting our economy.

Canadian politics are F-d up tho. Ontario is the most overtaxed population in north america, and what do we have to prove for it? I mean 15% GST/PST...Income tax(over 25% of pay)...housing tax, licence bull****, luxury taxes(liqour, smokes, fricken air conditioners...)

The most ironic part is that the middle class pays the majority of this tax...dammit im getting all riled up.

But like you said everyone is crooked, you kinda have to go with who you think isn't the most crooked. Im sure I don't have to tell you who i voted for Narc.

Your just loving this no doubt LMM, she(Sev) kinda shied away after everyone pounced on her. Did you put her up to it? Maybe someone stole her login, she always came off as a nice lady to me.

So rest easy - its not me, and yeah I'm lovin' it, I always enjoy watching you get bashed. Though I must say, its odd to see you with a supporter!

BTW, what a topic to get yourself involved in! You love jumping into controversy head first dont you!

Is there a website that says anything good about Bush? If Bush is such a good guy why is it that the only people who want him to win are people who think Kerry is a deushbag (is that how you spell dueschbag? I can never spell that word)? I admit Kerry is an ass but Bush has done so much more bad things for the world. He changed the way people view us all over the world. Now our reputation is ruined and people hate us A LOT more than they used too. When is Michael Moore Hates America coming out? Also if you need more proof that Bush is bad go to www.johnkerryisadouchebagbutimvotingforhimanyway.com

Locke, I happen to have a active life outside the internet. I did not "shy" away after you and Adrienne "pounced" on me. I have two children, a husband and a dog. It was a Holiday weekend in the states so I have been occupied all weekend, and I frankly didn't think about you, Adrienne or this argument. Adrienne got me going because she likes put words in m mouth. She dosen't read my post very carefully and makes an arugment where in does not exsists. As for what you said about me. I did respond. You did not. So perhaps you are the one "shying away." Couldn't find any proof of me kissing a#!? Quite honestly I hate politics and aruging about them never seems to get anyone anywhere. As far as I am concerned this matter has been settled. I had my fun.

Yea, haha, i'll admit that i got over-sensetive this time...lol, i tend to do that a little bit. Bad day...long story...and i'm glad its over nad i havn't made any long lived enemies.

My ex used to be really close minded about polotics and if someone had an opinion against his, he's "pounce" as it's been said, and bash it, being closeminded...i guess i got that trait when we parted, and i'm sorry i pounced...my bad :P

Polotics...bah.

Smedsy99 - Just what kind of view do you think the world had of Americans before? Im not bashing the US or anything, because I do know alot of nice people from there but how others view the USA hasnt really changed, its just that its been more open and publicised.

If anything, Bill Clinton was the one who brought you the most Shame.
The world see's Bush as a strong leader, even if he is a bit of a bumbling fool (i'm talking about his personality, not the way he runs a country). I mean, some of the things he's done have been a bit rash, but when you think about it, he will go down in history as a man who took a stand against some of the biggest threats in the world today. (He cheated death when that Evil pretzel tried to terrorise him... lol.... sorry I had to!)

But all in all, every politician is a dirty crook, no matter what they promise.

*** Just as a side note: Michael Moore is a fool! It has already been said above in this thread that he admitted that his movie was not entirely factual and that he made it extremely biased. Before it came out here, people were warned to basically take it with a grain of salt. So to those people who are claiming that his movie reveals all - pull your head in and grow up!

I don't know how adrianne could read "He is an idiot of the highest order just like you. Which is probably why you like him." any other way. You are generalizing that anyone who likes bush probably likes him because he/she is an idiot of the highest order. So you are being prejudice against people who support bush. That is why Adrianne got pissed.

And there you go generalizing again, just because you have a dog, a husband and a child, your life is more important then mine? Yes I have a life, and I prefer not to waste time scourging the board for proof that you kiss ass. I still don't understand how I am the bad guy in this argument. I did and said nothing in my post originally that was offensive...and YOU pounced on me for no reason. So grow up "MOM"!

Locke...just drop it...I admitted that i took things a little too seriously...and although i still feel i'm right, i'm willing to let it go, for the soul fact that i don't want to add more conflict than already is here. Sev, although wrong in some aspects herself, has let it go for the time being...adn it's better that you do too.

Just drop it? She did a typical Prongs post. Im not going to just drop it.

Typical Prongs Post: Jumps on someone for no reason, bashes them, then says he/she is too busy to take it seriously, therefore the whole argument is no made to be nothing.... And then says I've had my fun...now if that isn't an idiot of the highest order...she certainly isn't above me on that pyramid

BACK TO THE TOPIC AT HAND!!

I was just searching a website for exchange rates and came across some info relevant to this topic.

"Currency notes of denominations above $100 are not available from the Department of the Treasury, the Federal Reserve System, or the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. On July 14, 1969, the Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve System announced that currency notes in denominations of $500, $1,000, $5,000, and $10,000 would be discontinued immediately due to lack of use. Although they were issued until 1969, they were last printed in 1945."

$10,000 is said to be the highest bill created as 'legal tender' and even though they're not in circulation, they are still considered legal and you can use them.

For more info and pictures go to: www.exchangerate.com

P.S - there's nothing ever about a $200 bill being made... so the dunderhead that used it at McD's must have a few screws loose!
